My next piece I’ll try using the Reilly Palette. I use a laminated reference sheet as a color matcher to eliminate how much thinking I’m doing but this does add a bit more flexibility it seems from the Zorn palette. Things that stick out at me : * after the third value in - switch from white as a bending agent to burnt umber and the 50/50 solution for the orange and red line respectively. * the shadows are all “warm” I noticed there isn’t any blue in the Reilly palette * seems ideal for model but you could substitute the model for a color matcher All of this time I have been using the Zorn palette with cobalt blue and I could probably still do that for the portions of my pieces that are not figurative like architecture or backgrounds bc a lot of the stuff I’m doing is full figure fantasy. This was a super useful video Bill.

Easier way to make grey scale both williamsburg and gamblin (portland) have grey values already numbered by scientific evaluations, that help short cut: ie williamsburg greys are numbers 2,4,6,8 add your back nd white, you have 6 of ten values. But more importantly, your mixing will be more consistent besides being easier. To get value 3, mix 2+4, etc.

Thanks for the positive comments! Over the years I've found this palette to facilitate painting portraits and figurative Paintings! I used it for years in my illustration career and still do!
