I'm using libe sensor with blucon nightrider and my readings are same as libre reader. The most important we all miss in Libre sensor is Alarm. Blucon is the cheapest and best solution for all diabetic community. It gives readings on phone and watch every 5 minutes without scanning the sensor and it gives me alarm whenever my glucose goes HI/Lo. There are multiple options in alarm like we can set it for Fast Rise and Fast Drop, we can snooze the alarm and many more. My caregivers are now happy as they can follow my readings.

Like you, I've been a diabetic a good number of years. After watching a number of your videos, (and commenting), I decided to get a Libre a few days ago. Had a few wobbles with the reader detecting the sensor; often requiring a number of swipes, but on the whole, what an AMAZING difference a FGM system makes!! Every once in awhile, something comes along, that seems to make managing diabetics a lot easier. Though early days, I'm already feeling Libre is one of them! So thanks Andrea, for all your great videos!! I thank you, and so do my fingers! lol :-)

Hi there Lovely, I’m in the Uk , I’ve just found you recently, thank you so much for your authenticity and sharing of your diabetic journey and all the “highs and lows” pardon the pun 😉, I’m learning so much about new technology from you , I’ve been type 1 for 13 years , at best I have muddled through . I’ve only just begun to seek other options , the dexcom 6 looks fab but out of my price range , So the Libre looks like my best option , I really can’t get my head around the fact it’s not available on the nhs, ...?? I lie , .... actually , it is but you have to meet a ridiculous criteria in order to obtain one , you need to have disabling hypos ... I don’t know of any diabetics who are not “ disabled “ during a hypo ..? I’m investigating around to see how I can raise this unacceptable indictment towards type 1 diabetics . We all deserve a better quality of life . So glad to have found you , thank you , beautiful female ✨☺️

hi Andrea I have been using the Libre freestyle for nearly three months. About the same amount of time as I have been an adult with LADA. Before getting the lbre freestyle Fl;ash sensor I was having massive highs and lows since using the Libre flash sensor for near three months I have just had my HBA1C and the results were no action required from my doctor. For me it has meant that at last I feel like I am in control of my diabetes for the first time in 23 years. In Australia. Because I am on a pension the Libre free style sensors for me are fully subsidised so I pay nothing for them which is an added bonus. I would have continued to try and fund this tech for myself as I can see the real benefit of realtime sugar levels. As I don't use a pump I don't need to have that level of integration. I only use the app for the android for reading my sensor

The sensor lasts 14 days, so you have to change it every 14 days. In terms of the cost in the US, I'm really not exactly sure, as it very much depends on your insurance coverage. Perhaps some others can chime in here and help answer your question 🙏🏻 From my rough rough guestimation from some anecdotal research I think one sensor would cost $90-$110 without insurance. I hope this helps answer your questions!

Yes, the Libre is testing through your sub Q fluid (it has a fancier name) and finger pricks test off of capillary samples. My endo explained it to me that they will be close but different, as your glucose dissipates at different rates depending on where it's stored. My Libre is always 20 wish points lower, but likely a more accurate representation of my glucose.

If you compare it to your finger stick tester that can be off. I have 2 of them and 1 is off 40 and the other is off 70. I compared them to a lab test.

What state are you in? My condition - Type II is not covered at all since we have to take insulin 5 x daily. It’s obscene. So I pay out of pocket.

I have 2 finger stick monitors 1 is off by 70 points and 1 is off by 40 points. I can’t trust them at all. I have to go with something different. Sometimes I can’t even get blood through my finger. And when I get readings of 560 I need to know so I don’t pass out.

Oh my gosh I'm so so sorry to hear this. That must be both exhausting and scary all at once :(. Maybe have a look at the Dexcom G6 - it's better than this device in terms of accuracy and can alert you with alarms via your phone to tell you when you're going too high or low. Could be a great help for you it sounds like. Sending you strength!!

Hi Stan, thanks for your comment! So I am no longer on the Freestyle Libre system, and have since switched over to the Dexcom G6 system, however, when I was on it, I would order it directly from Abbott in the UK (which is where I’m based). I’m so sorry to hear you’re having trouble getting a hold of the system - that is frustrating indeed!! I hope you have success very very soon!!

I purchased from CCSMed and my meter and two sensors arrived today and I just inserted one of the sensors. No pain whatsoever and I'm waiting to take the first reading. FYI, getting my doctor to properly fill out the paperwork from CCSMed took forever and it was mostly the fault of ,my doctor's office but that's par for the course with this medical group. I was there the second time the doctor completed the simple form and he still got it wrong. Anyway, I'm really looking forward to trying out the Libre System because I've had really good experiences with other meters from Abbot. Their meters are very reliable and they have excellent technical/product support when something eventually goes wrong with their meters. One more thing...going forward this will save me money. In the past, Medicare has limited my testing to 3 times a day whereas each Libre sensor gives me 24 hour coverage for 14 days. So I'll save money on test strips since I normally test about 6 times a day. As far as CCSMed is concerned...I recommend that you stay on top of what's happening and keep calling your doctor until they get the paperwork back. That will help a lot at least it did in my case. Good Luck

Ed Thom Not just that, Medicare requires that I take insulin 5 x per day. So if you’re Type 2 & use pills, tough luck! I have to order privately at about 65 per sensor! And the reader? Don’t even ask! Good thing that lasts indefinitely. We are SO behind the rest of the world it’s obscene!

question, have you heard of extending the life of a censor longer than 14 days? Would you recommend it?
@ShesDiabetic
@ShesDiabetic 3 жыл бұрын
I have heard of it with the Libre, but never tried it myself. I would be very wary of doing this because you may get inaccurate readings and thus have problems with the data and amount of insulin you're dosing, etc. This is just my personal opinion of course! There's lots of into out there from other sources to help you with this, but I personally would not do it myself from a safety perspective. I hope this helps!

I'm so sorry to hear this, and thank you for sharing your experience Steve. I always had pretty good luck with the accuracy with my Libre, but I know others have struggled, so clearly it's a very case specific situation, and that's very frustrating. With regards to your inaccuracies, I would encourage you to contact Abbott directly when you have these issues and see if they have anything that can help remedy this/replace the potentially faulty sensor. I hope this helps! Once again, thank you for sharing this with the community here.

This is not a real time type sensor. It takes a reading every 5 minutes and give an avg over the last 5 readings. If you want a live time sensor you need to look at the Dexcom or similar.
