WATCH NEXT: 2021 was the deadliest year on record for drug deaths across the US and Canada, thanks to an ongoing overdose epidemic primarily fueled by fentanyl. In order to combat this crisis, governments are under pressure to act. - kzbin.info/www/bejne/gJaWinR6l8qjb9k

@VICENews My best friend wife just passed two days ago from this. Don't think she knew exactly what she was getting into. She was too trustworthy of her "friend." Now, I'm just doing my research to be familiar with the process and to steer people away from it. It needs to be banned in the U.S. It's a terrible practice. Now my friend is left to raise their 6 months old son. Thank you for sharing this video.

What about all the ancient civilizations that have clearly done more work than us... Most definitely psychedelics were in use. And then there's a few like ayahuasca that people have life-changing experiences on the first part of that is purging. You must get out the spiritual poison before you can become more

It’s sad how most of these comments seem to be shunning this ancient wisdom without trying to understand the thousands of years of benefit it’s conveyed to the communities in the Amazon. The comments show the modern inclination to shun and look down upon the unfamiliar, but the also show what a poor job she did on reporting. Her American allopathic skepticism is understandable, but it would be nice to find someone who actually cares for the tribes and their perspective to report on this. Kambo isn’t just purging, not by a long shot. The poison tests and stimulates the immune system so most participants rarely ever get sick. The inflammation forces blockages out of the lymphatic system. Taking kambo 3 times in a 28 day period is used as a malaria vaccine among the tribes. I did it before moving to a hot zone 8 years ago and have never had any worries. The more you work with kambo, the more profound the changes. I’ve experienced incredible health benefits from working with this medicine. That being said, I only work with one tribe whose members have had the lineage passed down for countless generations. The difference in working with someone who was born into this vs someone who paid too much $ for a 2 week “certification” is night and day. I never once cared about the endurance, but it does make you feel like a super hero for a day or 2 after. I hope this comment can shed a bit of light on this medicine. If you can’t find reverence at least try to have some respect for other cultures.
@XSemperIdem5

If tribes want to continue to practice this then it's none of our business. It seems the issue here is some guy running this like a puke spa and charging "tech bros" for it. It's just more capitalism selling something without any peer reviewed research to back it up. If he doesn't truly know what it's doing, how can he screen for safety? Someone with a medical condition, who takes medications, or has an allergy could be seriously hurt or killed by this unregulated business. Does he have a medically qualified professional on site? Does he have CPR training, an AED on site, EpiPens? None of the safety issues were even addressed by this video.

I’d like to try this Kambo🥹 In my late teens & 20s my friends and I would do shrooms, Isd, and ecstasy occasionally. Good times! All were positive, fun, spiritual experiences. But, it's been decades. I don't know anyone who knows anyone who can get psychedelics. I live in LA & there's a Kush store three blocks from my house, but I can't function on weed. I wish they sold psilocybin gummies. I'm a little depressed & a little anxious on a regular basis. I'm not a big drinker and I hate taking pills. A bite or two of a chocolate bar, or a cup of mushroom tea everyday would be a godsend for me.

I lived with the indigenous tribes and learned directly from them. They are definitely doing the medicine application in a non standard way. The sticks I get from the tribe only require 1-2 dots and induce purge in less than 12 minutes. A potent peptide point of the host at the should would have caused a purge in less than 10minutes. And thats also not the right place to give someone Kambo the first time since North Americans have whole lot of processed food diets and other health conditions. There are also quite a few research papers on peptides in the Kambo secretion. Doesn't explain the process well or talk about contraindications etc. This documentary by portraying Kambo practice in California, its different from Kambo in Matsés community in Perú.

I like how they build it up by talking about all the things people say they've experienced AFTER the session, then she puts herself through the entire thing and does almost zero evaluation of her experiences afterward. Even if you got nothing out of it, at least do some type of reflection on your experience like what??? This video was literally "people throw up and report profound effects after. i'm just going to do the throw up part and go get some food."

thats the point, there is nothing to it unless you have bought into the cult. If your a normal human being coming at it from a unbiased point of view, you took a violently emetic substance, blew the contents of your guts into a bucket, then sniffed some tobacco and twitched on a mat for a couple hours. Theres no value to be had from that, this is just typical cult BS where you intentionally cause pain and discomfort to induce a sense of in group bonding. This is just an attempt within the tech bro community to fill the void they *Very rightfully* feel by preforming their menial work that exists for no other reason than expanding the power of despots. Their bodys and minds are telling them to feel bad for a reason, and its justified, "purging" your guts into a bucket wont free you

OK I know its not cool to say this but I can't help it. I'm smitten over Manisha. She's a real gem and Vice need to give her a lot more work. She is so natural on camera, really genuine. I'm sure she's got a bright future in journalism, maybe more along the documentary gonzo style. Perhaps she wants nothing more to do with it after this. Anyway I'm smashing that like button and my overall opinion of Vice just jumped up a notch. Also would never do this, nope. *shaking head vigorously*
