It’s sad how most of these comments seem to be shunning this ancient wisdom without trying to understand the thousands of years of benefit it’s conveyed to the communities in the Amazon. The comments show the modern inclination to shun and look down upon the unfamiliar, but the also show what a poor job she did on reporting. Her American allopathic skepticism is understandable, but it would be nice to find someone who actually cares for the tribes and their perspective to report on this. Kambo isn’t just purging, not by a long shot. The poison tests and stimulates the immune system so most participants rarely ever get sick. The inflammation forces blockages out of the lymphatic system. Taking kambo 3 times in a 28 day period is used as a malaria vaccine among the tribes. I did it before moving to a hot zone 8 years ago and have never had any worries. The more you work with kambo, the more profound the changes. I’ve experienced incredible health benefits from working with this medicine. That being said, I only work with one tribe whose members have had the lineage passed down for countless generations. The difference in working with someone who was born into this vs someone who paid too much $ for a 2 week “certification” is night and day. I never once cared about the endurance, but it does make you feel like a super hero for a day or 2 after. I hope this comment can shed a bit of light on this medicine. If you can’t find reverence at least try to have some respect for other cultures.
@XSemperIdem5 Жыл бұрын
If tribes want to continue to practice this then it's none of our business. It seems the issue here is some guy running this like a puke spa and charging "tech bros" for it. It's just more capitalism selling something without any peer reviewed research to back it up. If he doesn't truly know what it's doing, how can he screen for safety? Someone with a medical condition, who takes medications, or has an allergy could be seriously hurt or killed by this unregulated business. Does he have a medically qualified professional on site? Does he have CPR training, an AED on site, EpiPens? None of the safety issues were even addressed by this video.

The sticks I get from the tribe only require 1-2 dots and induce purge in less than 12 minutes. A potent peptide point of the host at the should would have caused a purge in less than 10minutes. And thats also not the right place to give someone Kambo the first time since North Americans have whole lot of processed food diets and other health conditions. There are also quite a few research papers on peptides in the Kambo secretion. Doesn't explain the process well or talk about contraindications etc. This documentary by portraying Kambo practice in California, its different from Kambo in Matsés community in Perú.

OK I know its not cool to say this but I can't help it. I'm smitten over Manisha. She's a real gem and Vice need to give her a lot more work. She is so natural on camera, really genuine. I'm sure she's got a bright future in journalism, maybe more along the documentary gonzo style. Perhaps she wants nothing more to do with it after this. Anyway I'm smashing that like button and my overall opinion of Vice just jumped up a notch. Also would never do this, nope. *shaking head vigorously*

This feels like hot and cold therapy, but for something else. Like, we have seen the benefits and ability for our body to push hot and cold immersion further and further through conditioning. It makes sense you need to spread your spectrum, so to speak, by experiencing lows and highs

If you saw stuff like Ayahuasca, then I'd be like- you suffer to hopefully have an enlightening moment. But this just sounds like a laxative gone wrong... 🤔

whenever someone says they “work in tech” and then continue with “in web 3 crypto space” it makes me want to projectile vomit all over some bathroom walls too

Kambo is great for removing toxins from the body, but I feel that Vice more wanted to poke fun at the Silicon Valley tech types using it..

Vice has a documentary from 10 years ago of one of their journalists journeying into the Amazon to hunt the frog and take this, amazing how far we've come in a few years. this is a dumb decision anyway as mushrooms would provide most of the effects and experiences without all the vomiting

That ridiculous statement about wanting to feel close to death. No, just no. I got close twice because of anaphylactic shock and 0/10 do not recommend.
@therideneverends169710 ай бұрын
@@XSemperIdem5 The fact that this is primarily marketed towards tech bros says everything, its pain tourism, people who have everything paying money to experience suffering, but only incrementally, scheduled in a controlled environment, so they can pretend they have had the experience but without the context behind real suffering, lest they relate to the experience of the actual underclass, its performative self-aggrandizing self stimulation,

Actually, it makes sense. I always feel unusually better after having Norwalk virus, or a migraine. When I tell ppl that, they laugh and say that’s because it’s over. Yet, I do feel better than usual.
