Interesting ... in the version that I know, the frog annoys the princess so much that she grabs him and throws him against the wall and thus he becomes a prince again. This story here is so much nicer.

In the original, the Princess was so disgusted by the frog that she snapped when he suggested sleeping on her pillow, so she throws him at the wall! For some crazy reason, not only did killing him break the spell, he has no ill will towards her and asks to marry her on the spot. Yay, romance? ^_^0

I haven't been listening to these lately because my sleep schedule is all screwed up atm, but man I missed it :) The storytelling is wonderful and the commentary is so much fun, asking the questions we all want to hear, like are these guys who magically transform into prices naked? Maybe the fairies who go around cursing these random guys make sure to include a "if he breaks it, give him clothes" clause or something? Do spells have clauses?

My favorite part of one of the versions of this story is when the prince and princess are riding home and they hear a snap. It turned out the servant was so heart broken he had 3 metal bands placed around his heart and as they journey back to the princes home land his heart is so filled with happiness the bands break one at a time.

I'll be honest this version is far less creepy than the one I knew. The one I knew yes the girl made a promise she shouldn't have, but the frog was being....predatory... Her family wouldn't help her either because she should keep her promise. Then ya know, in true fairytale fashion she gives him a kiss, he turns into a prince, and because he's a pretty prince she's fine with him now. I like the kindness of this one.

Wasn’t there two more versions of this story? The one i know from my childhood has been mentioned a couple of times in the comments, with the princess throwing the frog, but I feel like I’ve also heard another version where she gets so angry she cuts off the frogs head and the next morning there’s just the prince instead of a frog corpse😅
