Those of you saying how bad his memory is, there was so much happening at that time as well as so much going on in his mind, of course he wouldn't remember things that weren't significant to him at that time. Major props to Dame, now that we can see more behind the scenes, we can understand what happened
@mitcharndt87913 жыл бұрын
CONSIDER THIS PERSPECTIVE! The conversation is getting morphed into mainly a business convo which leans to where dame looks right and hop looks erratic because hopsin is someone who is afraid of hurting ppls feelings so he gets intimidated because he doesn't know how to work around that in a convo. It looks like hop has grown to consider the business perspective a little more but it doesn't look like he has come to embrace any of those ideologies still. It's clear that dame still doesn't respect hop enough to have taken the time out to learn how to maneuver in a convo with him because dame is still coming off defensive wich is making hop uncomfortable now. Now everything I just said is the EXACT reason everything fell apart in the first place. If dame wouldve spent more time to understand hop he wouldn't have gotten defensive and insulted hop. He wouldve instead been able to explain things to hop in a way he clearly understood, felt heard, felt respected, and was comfortable with. So basically the timeline is 1.Hop has thoughts 2.Hop expresses thoughts 3.Dame feels offended and defensive 4.Dame expresses his feelings by offending hop 5. Hop sees dames comment as dirty 6.Hop subconsciously connects dames personality/comments to dame as a business man . 7. Hop burns everything to the ground lol The overall conclusion is that these 2 personalities were destined to split apart from the beginning. We have a genius business man who has no idea how to communicate with or see things from an artist perspective, and we have a genius artist who hates everything that is calculated or not purely organic and therefore cannot adopt or even adapt to the music business ideologies. If we had a buffer in between them to explain each side to the other so there was genuine understanding on both sides , these mfs would be unstoppable based on their respective specialties and I truly believe that!

Depression. When it really gets a hold of you, especially severe depression, you're almost in a different state of consciousness altogether. You might be present and responsive, but you're really not there. Almost like a robot, empty inside. You become dissociative. Then when you add in the fact that he was slowly realizing that he didn't understand his business at all, but his ego wouldn't accept that. Honestly, it's surprising that he remembers as much as he does about that period to time. It's a good thing that he doesn't smoke and/or drink because those would have only exacerbated the issues he was dealing with and he probably wouldn't remember a thing

In my opinion it looks like Hopsin was probably in the wrong. From what he says, it seemed like he blew the situation out of proportion. I think the biggest mistake they both made is that they didn’t have clear communication between each other. The lack of communication lead the downfall. It seemed like Hopsin wasn’t happy with some of the decisions by Dame but he never went up to talk to him. So Dame didn’t do anything about it because he didn’t know. Doesn’t mean Hopsin is evil for it he just hadn’t matured enough to have real conversations. I don’t think Dame was in the wrong or he did anything wrong he was doing what would profit the company more and he had valid points, Hopsin seemed like he might’ve not been on board with the decisions but he never brought them up until now. But that’s just my opinion. Obviously I wasn’t there and I’m just speculating.

Funnily enough i messaged Hop as soon as i saw his post that he was quitting FV and that he wasn't getting his money from dame, and that dame was earning too much. I hollad at him like "yo, this is a really big decision, maybe sit down, talk with dame and really think this through before abandoning everything you FV crew built together. Dame has a lot on his plate managing all of FV himself, don't do anything to brash out of anger and emotion bro" I was 17 at the time, i just started rapping, recording and performing, but i also wanted to learn everything about the business side as well because my dream was to own a label and a clothing brand. So i sat in all the business and budget meetings when it came to setting up events. I was taking notes and calculating the math of how much everything costs, hiring the venue, the live audio engineer, security, lights, equipmen, promotion, time slots, troubleshooting incase stuff broke or if people couldn't make it. All that isn't even counting how much the artists get paid, licensing beats, copywriting, tour expenses like food, hotels, fuel, merch. Since FV was independent I knew all the money being made was all built from the ground using album sales, live shows and merch, FV didn't have massive sponsors like major labels. So large percentage of Dames money was going into all of these things that not many people outside of the industry understand. I could tell Hop wasn't in a good head space or thinking rationally just from his recent posts and music.

Damn Hopsin I didn’t know it was like that back in the day. I think he needs a hug or something man. Pray for Marcus Hopson

Hop was out here living my life but with money. Old me said that would have been my curse, current me sees that as a blessing. Hop was the only one strong enough to go through it and report back.

You mean to tell me Hop had a chance at a collab with Budden, Barker, and Rag n Bone and none of them happened? 😱

Both of them in a way experienced the Dunham Kruger effect when it came to the lack of understanding/effort it takes to do the other person's job, which created a lotta unfortunate consequences... Nice hearing them own up and humble themselves with this mature conversation. As a fan of Hop, like many others, I've always been a lil bias, so this has been refreshing to see. Great to have this kinda shit in 2021, we need these sorts of examples on how to communicate like adults 💯💯💯

This how every beef should be settled. Sit down, listen and understand one another. Conversating like 2 adults. This shit rare and I really hope this leads to some kind of reunion, funk volume was next to strange when it came to independent. A roster of true killers.

Dame isn't being apologetic at all but hopsin is. Dame obviously made mistakes but he can't own up to them. He's making it awkward. If hopsin got defensive here like Dame it wouldve turned into another argument. It seems Dame is here to prove he was right, good on hopsin to just let it go here and good on hopsin to leave FV

I feel like Hop is taking accountability for his misjudgments so he can leave with a clean conscious and Dame isn’t taking responsibility for any of it. Something about that dude still rubs me wrong and I think Hop is being easy on him
@kaineshigaraki52533 жыл бұрын
I completely relate. Something about Dame don't sit right with me. He's not evil or anything but he's like... awful at interpersonal communication. I think Hop didn't take it easy on him. I think he's realized it was just business to Dame. [×]
@coreyjohnston91953 жыл бұрын
Because dame doesn't think he was in the wrong at all where hop can see he fuck up in certain things
@blueflame35313 жыл бұрын
Maybe because Dame was accused of taking Money off them, and accused Hopsin of not working hard enough. (which is true) he doesn't like promoting himself, touring and expanding his brand and craft. Dame wanted them all to win.

Managing all 3 artist and being the CEO is a huge conflict of interest and Dame knows that. Rather he stole money or not.
@Krafty3 жыл бұрын
They were a very small label doing a lot of the things themselves. When you operate like that as an independent label, you have to wear multiple hats in the beginning. If Funk Volume went on to be even more successful, eventually Dame would’ve just taken a back seat and taken off some of those hats
