If you're looking for obscure scenes, I would recommend looking into the Splatoon community. Their most recent game's content had ended fairly recently but the competitive scene is keeping it alive and playing it still.

Sounds good! I'm into this idea and subscribing. Please take a look at Rivals of Aether. It's a game that's consistently included in big-ish tournaments as a side event without having neither the big community nor the funding other titles have. The playerbase is small but extremely dedicated and the devs put a lot of effort into keeping the game alive. Mechanically it's a lot like smash but with a bigger emphasis on dinstintive, cohesive and balanced characters, as well as a more agressive playstyle. Thanks for reading! I bet you already knew it but I'd love (and the community too) to see a video about it. Edit: Just saw you hearted a comment about Rivals so silly me for not checking out before posting lol.

As a player who was able to climb their way through the first season of this game's competitive through sheer grinding (and not that much skill) it's surreal and humbling to see the things I experienced. The one time I fought Daioutzu, he kicked my ass and sent me spiraling back down to the normal ladder, and I used to love queueing up while I watched the Japanese streams and dropping a GG in chat whenever I'd find one. All your content is excellently made, but this one speaks to me just because I can say confidently that it got everything right. And not ONCE did it mention Jet Set Radio! :)

This actually fills a gap I’ve been looking for. I feel like while there are games like Blazblue that are as complex as anyone could ask for, there has also been an emergence of “distilled” fighting games that sort of center on one particular element of the genre and distill it to its own game. For example, the game Footsies is centered around, well, footsies; similar with Divekick and aerial fighting; and I’d even argue DBFZ is basically that for rushdown (which tells you how much it cares about traditional FG archetypes by making the best zoner a grappler). But I hadn’t seen anything in the vein of Zoning: The Game. I’m not actually sure that’s the best way to describe this game as I don’t know much about it but that’s the first thing that comes to mind two minutes into this video.
@HinnerkHesse4 жыл бұрын
If this game is too hard but speaks to you soooo much due to the music snd characters and art style - There is going to be a remake of Jet Set Radio by the same developers (Team Reptile) 2021 which is going to be a single-player focused experience of style and fun!

Yes, more people talking about LLB! This game is great and I'm glad the following is growing. As for an obscure games to check out next, there's a game called Crawl by Powerhoof studios, a dungeon crawler where your friends play as the monsters. They can even take control of traps and the final boss of the game, as far as I know everyone who's played it (and wasn't an idiot that couldn't understand how the controls work) had an amazing time fighting with their friends. I want more people to share and play it.

I played the OG game a while back, i wanna say 2016. We got so good just playing with each other, every round we were going balls to the wall, high speed, I thought the stage was going to melt around us. 10/10 game. It has the really low skill floor and an incredibly high skill ceiling. I hope this games community grows as it kind of died as far as tournaments are concerned. There are still new player challenges which happen every other month, but other then that, there hasn't been a legit tournament in over a year.
