I don't know if you've addressed this yet (currently, I'm working in a different medium so I've put watercolor on hold for a bit) but I really struggle with wrapping my mind around negative painting. Especially, when it comes to fur. For instance, a white ruff that blends into another color of fur. Is there any way to train your mind to "see" this (before screwing it up, that is)? Thanks and I just want to say how grateful I am that you share your knowledge with us.

Hmmm, would love to see an example of a reference you struggle with. Negative painting is a good idea for a topic though! I never thought of white fur against darker fur as negative painting.

good Rachel. I paint people so generally paint wet to dry but fighting current portrait due to the hair. I'm going to try wet /wet! thank you. Is the brush Cat's Paw?

I use silver black velvet brushes mostly!
