There wasn’t anything she could do. Once he went through that window without an astronaut suit (as they were in outer space), he was dead via explosive decompression. Not even her powers could bring him back. Her reaction was “normal” she instantly knew he was dead and she was simply overcome with grief. Some games/stories/comics depict Jean’s powers of the phoenix as like having dissociative identity disorder where Dark Phoenix is like an alter. Once Cyclops was dead, Jean was so overcome by grief, her alternate personality took over, dealing with what she was unable to. Here and X-Men Legends is how they portray her powers as Phoenix.

Buffy was based on Kitty Pride and named after Scott Summers. Willow and her Dark Willow arc were based entirely on Jean and Dark Phoenix. Xander was given an eyepatch to pay homage to the original (white) Nick Fury. Faith was inspired by X23. The Buffy creators have admitted all of this.

I mean, I’m not gonna make it seem like I just love everything that’s given to me Bc I can be very opinionated and particular in taste but at the same time, I think some people honestly just may never truly be satisfied w/ a Phoenix film 🤷🏾‍♂️ There’s a lot of things that people want or prefer as far as presentation and storyline that it feels impossible to please all of the fans but I agree, I did enjoy the Cosmic force look this time around Bc that was honestly one of the main things I felt was missing from X3! We were teased w/ the original look of the Phoenix force and then the new team who signed on for the next film just turned her into a demon 🥴 I think Sophie is a good Jean, she had to grow on me Bc honestly for me Famke Janssen will always be Jean Grey 💯
