How is the future looking in Thailand? Today I take you out for a day of fun in Bangkok at the Bangkok Motor Expo. I start by meeting my mate Rob ‪@ProjectBangkok‬ and we take the BTS and the new Pink Line train out to Impact Arena for the car show! Taking a look at these concept cars, EV's and all the amazing futuristic looking cars, this was a super fun day!

The reason why the walkway between the two trains is not connected is because the Pink Line is still being trialled for free service. The two stations will be connected. When the Pink Line is officially in service with travel expenses collected

The Thai models sure look good! I must go to the show in BKK (March?). I want everything to go electric, but the one ICE vehicle I would consider buying is a 90's NSX, which does look a bit similar to your car.

Love those concept cars, but you're right, they always change them, I remember seeing the concept for the 2023 Ford Bronco, and how they were aesthetically so much like the early 70s Broncos... and then they released what might be the ugliest looking truck I have ever seen when they actually hit the lots. Lol love the MR2 at the end. Own 3 in my life. Had the standard 2.0 g limited then ii went to the GT turbo MR2 and then last was the GTS MR2 which twin entry turbo. I shouldnt have sold the GTS :(

You have to understand that BTS and MRT two different companies, the Thai Government is not able to come up with one Transportation Company sadly, which could make this city one of the best in the world. However, we have 3 - 4 competitors which try to reshape the city in their own way , very frustrating to be frank, you also need separate tickets and cards. Big Dislike after living in this city for over a decade.

The Yellow and Pink MRT lines are operated by BTS and use the Rabbit Card and not the MRT Cards. The separation without a bridge is likely only because the Pink Line is free for a while.

How close does the Pink Line get you to Impact? Love the karting track there, Impact Speedpark, but historically it was a huge pain to get to

There is a shuttle bus from the station that we couldn’t figure out, or it’s 60 baht in a taxi.. we walked back after it was 20 minutes and a terrible walk haha

I think the plan is to have a little line offshot from the Pink Line that goes to the Impact Arena. But it won't be finished until 2025.

I went yesterday and had a blast! Wished I started earlier as it takes awhile to get to Impact; and I inconveniently found out the Pink Line closes at 8pm! Anyway, started my viewing on the left (glad to see Mercedes had a large footprint with many car types) and worked right. As you showed, lots of lovely models at the manufacturer displays, but pleasantly learned the girls working the car accessory booths were quite approachable for photos and chitchat. Great to see some aviation presence, but general aviation in Thailand is pretty lean compared to the US.

ya know, seeing all those safety gates onthe platforms really reminds me of how corrupt the transit systems are in Canada and north america. I first saw those types of gates in england and if 'they' were truly interested in protecting folks taking trains/subways, they would have these installed on every platform instead of blowing money on over inflated extensions (that do not have them either). people 'fall' in front of trains all of the time. i jsut don't get it.

I was just up at that station last week on my way to Laksi to extend my visa waiver. I chuckled because I bought my ticket at the ticket booth and then realized I would have to pronounce that 4 word name - but the agent got it anyways, lol. Great news is that it is now very easy to get to Laksi on the Pink Line for short-term visa extensions.

for a country that has a 300% import tax on cars they sure do a really good car expo ,i still reckon theres a hi so work around for those in the no not to pay that tax some how ,it is thailand after all ,and there is a guy for everything else ,would need be connected though i reckon .

Yeah a lot of random cars are made here so sometimes there is a luxury car that doesn’t have that tax, but yeah, the 300% is insane
