Planning on relocating downtown from the UK with my wife. Honestly, San Diego is just a no brainer right now, can't wait to be living down town and meeting cool people!!

downtown San Diego is a dump, almost looks like a ghost town in the 1070s. the new luxury highrises that are worth living are in the East Village but are also are RIGHT NEXT to the homeless shelters where the drug addicts congregate and shoot up right out in the open; it's a huge problem. Massive Mexican gang presence. seriously, downtown is AWFUL! Look into Pacific Beach (PB), Ocean Beach (OB) and Mission Beach neighborhoods, those places are awesome!

@@scottduke2809 PB, OB, and MB are where said homeless and junkies go to bathe. PB is crusty and overpriced.
@scottduke28096 ай бұрын
@@sergpie are you saying that the homeless in PB OB and Mission are as prevalent and problematic as the East Village, as 1501 Imperial Ave? cause i would LOUDLY object. also, this is about downtown and my point is it’s awful, are you saying the homeless in OB PB etc is so bad it’s BETTER to live downtown? i hope not because that would be crazy. PB OB and Mission are GREAT PLACES TO Live in san diego. where else would they live, EAST SD? 🤣

Would love to live in San Diego or Anywhere in Socal stuck in San Francisco bay right now. But the mismatch between incomes and living costs is difficult right now. You factor in the nearly 8% mortgages and barely any homes available I'm hoping these home quotas the state set will come true.

There is I think probably a 45 story building I do not know under construction so somewhere new to live in San Diego soon

Yes this was a big story recently. Never fun to see hard working people lose their jobs. But with everything that’s happened in the world the last few years, I’m just thankful it’s not much much worse

The city has allocated $7.4 million on shelter beds for next year. Everything on its wish list would be closer to 10x or $70 million dollars tho. I wish the people spending $3.8 billion dollars on the seaport project would just wake up and understand that they would make a lot more profit and make the area a lot more upscale if, say they reduced spending to $3.7 billion dollars, and take the $100 million to help out with the homeless problem. Maybe the city should make that partially mandatory.
@DanPBestLifeSD Жыл бұрын
With every new development in SD, there is always a requirement for a % of the build to be allocated for low income housing. I agree it would be nice to see some of those funds allocated towards homeless services or housing as well, but I know it’s not as easy as “just shave 10% off of that budget” because these projects ALWAYS end up way over budget
@ALLworldCONSTRUCTIONLLC Жыл бұрын
breaking news on allocation of funds: 2 billion for us, 1 billion for the politicians, 500 million for materials, 250 million for the subcontractors who will do all the work… and 250 million reserve that will go missing

I just don't know who would rent apartments downdown...those things go for upwards of 5k a month, why rent when for that you can own! and parking is usually not included! I firmly believe most of those residental buildings are empty, if only to drive up property value & rent costs. Downtown always had a homeless population...but it increased hand over fist when they demolsihed all the low income housing to build the PetCo Park Stadium downtown. I remember in the 80's how my Mother would warn me to stay away from Downtown because of all the crime, that was cleaned up in the 90's and early 2000's, but now with the homelss population basicly making shanty towns down there and with how expensive it is, I don't see why anyone would want to live there. The convenance of living within walking distance of everything, pales when you think about the odds of you being accosted by the homeless begging for money or food...or worse. I have a strong feeling these property companies will be strongly wispering to our local politicians to drive them out of the area...and that will only push them further into residental areas.
@DanPBestLifeSD Жыл бұрын
I want to agree with what you are saying about a lack of demand to rent these places downtown, but I also know if these companies are willing to invest this much money they must have done their research to anticipate enough demand
@MzJones-wo4oj Жыл бұрын
They already driving them out of the area Which isn’t wrong because residents do live there and safety is an issue for them as it would be anywhere they end up
@CaptureCat88 Жыл бұрын
I don’t think they could anticipate the dramatic rise in homelessness which pushes away exactly the type of people that can afford these.

Developments like this are a huge draw for tourism, and between the increase in business from the tourists, and the amount of jobs it will create for construction, big projects like this will positively impact a lot of people and local businesses

True I agree But I was really referring to the owned properties housing and condos that will significantly go up in value that are probably owned by already wealthy people

@@MzJones-wo4oj it's all relative though. In 2012 when I bought my condo almost ALL the condos I was looking at in downtown were under $90k to $250k. Now worth close to 1 million. The market dictates the prices, and this can change a lot.
