While pedal assist MTBs are not currently for me but someday might be, my biggest gripe with them is the word analog used to describe mountain bikes.

Another Great video, love the look and specs but have heard that the Bosch SX motor is quite noisy did you find this to be true, cadence of 110-120 it's just too high for the average e-bike user I love my emtb but at 58 years old I would struggle at that type of cadence 70 to 90 is the ideal range
@MBRmagazine5 ай бұрын
Thanks, glad you enjoyed it! Yes, it’s not the quietest motor out there. Obviously if you want lots of power at lower cadences then something like the Bosch CX is the one to go for.
@danielhelm96825 ай бұрын
That ticks a lot boxes for enduro riding especially at high speed when the motor cuts out and the weight of the bike needs to be controlled

Thanks for the tip - we hadn’t seen the Conway. We’ll reach out to them and see if it’s possible. We have lined up a Kenevo SL to test against the Dune 👍

Question: here in my region of good old Germany, we have Winters with longer periods at rndbt -5°. Do I have to store this fucking bike in my flat instead of Garage, because the built-in battery should not be wrecked with THESE temperatures? Or am I able to remove it for "long term storage" during winter?
@MBRmagazine5 ай бұрын
Yeah the battery is not easily removable. What you need is a nice little duvet for the down tube! 😂

Need to see a head to head with the Transition Relay.
@asifitmatters15 ай бұрын
Having ridden the relay, I would be surprised if the two are similar. The Relay felt like a really good trail/light enduro machine. Pretty sure the mondraker will feel more like a Kenevo SL, which is basically a downhill plow.

@@asifitmatters1 If it does feel like a Kenevo SL with more power; big plus.
@asifitmatters15 ай бұрын
@@ZippidyMTB well I own a Kenevo SL and I’m not sure that it is a plus for most people. It’s a LOT of bike and it needs a LOT of trail to come alive. I was riding last summer in Andorra and it was fabulous. But on my home trails and in most Bikeparks in Germany where I am currently based it’s just too much bike and doesn’t allow for as much popping and weaving, making the ride a little boring.
@MBRmagazine5 ай бұрын
Plan is to put the Dune up against the Kenevo SL in a head-to-head test. The Dune is definitely not plough - it's still really engaging and dynamic on more mellow tracks.

@MBRmagazine2 ай бұрын
We’ve got an Orbea Rise LT on test at the moment. It’s not quite in the same intended use category as the Dune, but it’s a very capable bike with a great balance of power, weight, and range. 👍

"The Future Of Enduro Bikes" taking this to its logical conclusion we might as well get an uplift between stages and ride optimised downhill bikes for the descents. Your last point is the only one with any validity if you feel max number of runs is the main criteria to judge success. For me, if I were a serious racer, then a motor assist would be a tool to train more.

@@MBRmagazinehow does the Bosch sx motor sound on the dune on the descents? Some carbon frames make the rattle louder cause it resinates through the frame.

This is a great bike, but it lacks a full 85hm motor and a removable battery for 600-750wh !!!!
@asifitmatters15 ай бұрын
I ride a Kenevo SL and a Forestal Siryon and I really appreciate the „half“ motor, but most people want full power and will continue to want it. The reality is that these bikes are a niche product, made for riders that actually ride hard and the lack of power makes it a no go for overbiked dentists and grandads, who unfortunately make up the majority of bike buyers. So no matter how good the engineering gets on this category it will never be a popular choice.
@MBRmagazine5 ай бұрын
Yep, less power is always going to be a tough sell. You really need to test ride a diet e-bike properly to experience the advantages, and that's not always an option.
@asifitmatters15 ай бұрын
@@MBRmagazine the issue with diet bikes is that you actually need to have a pretty high riding ability to be able to distinguish or utilize the advantages. The average rider simply isn’t equipped to feel a difference beyond the “lack of power”.
@MBRmagazine5 ай бұрын
Largely agree, but plenty of intermediate riders do notice the weight difference.

Point 2 total rubbish! pedaling at 120 rpm rapidly makes you feel really old not 20 years younger.
@MBRmagazine5 ай бұрын
Well, it’s 110rpm but we get your point. At 90rpm it’s still giving around 4-500 watts, so hardly nothing.
@MTBGeordieDownSouth5 ай бұрын
110 rpm is for them times when you do a little sprint to get you up a very steep bit of tech, not riding along your trail centre trails or cruising, it's to give you the grunt to clear them, at 400-500 watts you'll be getting significantly more than my Trek Fuel Exe with the TQ-HPR50 so it's significant.

Future of enduro is motor bikes? 🤮 I guess these days people love to pay their way up the mountain. Can’t wait until they take the physical aspect out of all sports to make them easier. Surfing: auto paddle Gyms with fake weights to make it easier/quicker and more fun. Boxing with no face punches because it’s more fun Football with no hitting What makes sports great is because they’re HARD.

That’s horse crap. It doesn’t take anything out of the physical part. In the time it takes you to do one run I can do two, so there’s no loss of effort. You’re just less tired for the downhill, which makes sense, since the downhill is the dangerous part. Never heard of anyone breaking their collar bone on a climb…
