Everybody compared him to Gobert on defense but i see a 7’4 AD on that side of the ball , he has great lateral quickness and recovery time after he is beat is elite , AD is regarded as the best defender in the league by many , at his peak Wemby’s defense will be AD on steroids

He's very flexible too. He can do the splits. He can bend over and touch his nose to his knees without bending his legs. I think that helps him take those long steps where he gets to the basket from the 3-pt line in two strides.

People need to stop trying to compare him to Bol Bol, he's on a whole 'nother level, that's disrespect to him & I think he took it personally last night. This kid is legit. I actually thought Scoot was going to be the one starting off strong, while Wemby struggles the first month or so, but I was dead wrong, it's the other way around lol. The Spurs had a 20pt lead at the end of the 3rd quarter, then Pop sat Wemby out the first 6 minutes of the 4th & the Suns came back & took the lead. When Wemby got back in, he just took over & they beat the Suns by 11pts, he's a major difference maker. He's clutch too. In a game with Booker & KD, it's crazy that Wemby was the best player in that game last night, & KD Booker both played great too. If he continues playing this way, he'll probably be an Allstar. I think if anything, he just needs to put on some muscle & get more sturdy, he still looks very flimsy on the court, it's like watching Shawn Bradley dominate lol. Also, as the TNT crew kept saying the other night, he needs to set his screens harder. I'm excited to watch this kid's career though, just hope he doesn't get any serious injuries.

@lazzi2462

@@Sebastian-dx2xg It's tough to be an Allstar in the West, great players like Damian Lillard missed so many Allstar games because of how many stars are in the West. Also, who knows? His numbers could suddenly dip. LeBron was the 'new face' of the NBA in 2003 & didn't make the Allstar in a weak Eastern conference his rookie year.

Right now, 5 games in - small sample size and all - Wemby might just be the best defender in the league. Don't let his block numbers fool you: It's not actually the blocks or shot alterations that *do* happen, it's the shot attempts that the opposing offense refuses to take because of Victor's presence. The difference in the Spurs' defensive rating when he is on the court compared to off the court is simply unbelievable.

These guys are going off on a player that played in a much more difficult league The NBA is a made for TV spectacle that isn't the same as the European league, the Euro league plays Fiba rules & basketball in its purest form not a superstar ball/possession dominant league More players will come & show that the US superstar system of developing players is flawed

good luck trying to figure out a 7 foot 3 player who has an 8 foot wingspan, can rebound, dunk with ease, shoot over literally 90% of nba players, shoot 3's, 50% shooting percentage right now, and can defend because of his massive reach. i think it's not if nba teams will be figure him out, it's if nba teams can even hope to stop him once he develops his game and muscle up more.. i pray he doesn't get injured, he's really something special.

tbh theres not too much they can do. He's so tall and lanky, I saw him get like 4 rebounds last night where people had him boxed out and he just reached over them like they were in middle school....he can shoot over 7 footers with ease, like I truly don't know what people will be able to do as he keeps getting better.
