I'm SO GLAD you're checking out an Orange, so this makes the official modern metal demo of the OR30. I've loved their sound since owning a Tiny Terror and I now own a MKIII Rockerverb which has become my favorite amp for most sounds, including modern high gain. Boosted these things just sound GNARLY and raunchy as fuck.

I got a Dual Dark 100 modified by Dave Friedman, one of the coolest pieces of amp gear that I own. Never thought I’d like orange but they surprise me. Awesome video John.

@@AndresFargoMusic when I purchased it he did a thing called a tight mod. The guy I bought it from had a huge collection of Friedmans and showed me some of his conversations on text with Dave. He wanted to do a tight knob just like on the Friedmans but the circuitry was too hard to modify it to that extent for the Orange. So he went in and modified the amp to where some of the flubby low end through the entire amp is gone. I’m not quite sure how he did it. He did it perfectly because it’s not too thin at and not muddy, and with a boost works even better. Still one of my favorite amps.

I agree with the million other comments Browne makes every amp and guitar sound amazing he just has that ear please the greatest right hand to be fast precise and that that attack with his playing not just using more Gain for more aggression. I'm signing up with riffhard asap once I get my guitar and amp back the robbers liberated from my house. But anyway in my inpinion top 3 rhythm players of all time, he's become my number #1

There seems to be a lot of tone/gain shaping between the volume knob and the treble knob. It seemed to go from fuzzy vintage tones to modern scoopy stuff depending on the balance of those two knobs alone. Definitely a "use your ears, not your eyes" amp. It's a bummer that it's $1000 more than the OR15

Thanks for turning the tubescreamer because just about any amp can sound good with an OD in front of it. W/O the OD in front, it does still sound good so that's nice. Then you mentioned you had a gate too? Again, thanks for that. I was wondering what the noise level was because that's really what separates most amps.

I love the tone from what I heard! I'm also curious whether the guitar was in standard tuning or something else, cause I'd also love to play around with some of those "test riffs". I love the sound of this amp, but it is just a bit too heavy for me. About the heaviest Orange head I could handle is an AD30 (which I really want), and I expect I will buy a Rocker 15 Terror before that.

Too bad I just have one guitar with evertune bridge and a thousand tunings during our set (I have to use the HX stomp and my droptune so I can change the tunings on the fly, drop C to Drop G# for example) or I would get this!!

PS John Browne the change to schecter was a great move I had your 6 string mayones Anja burst took me 3 years to save up for it and it got stolen along with my km6 mkiii but anyways I'm ranting wanted to see if there's a possibility of you doing a Tao with you BKP Nailbomb cold sweat and do it around the $1800 price point unless your not using BKP anymore just a thought

Orange has been absolutely killing it the last 20 or so years. Ever since that original Tiny Terror came out in 2006, they have been releasing great amp after great amp at all budget levels. One product that I really like (that's not talked much about) is their Voice of the World speakers. By far the best sounding budget speakers out there, IMO. I much prefer them to Made in China Celestions, even though the Orange speakers are most likely also made there.

@@HenritheHorse They haven't always been as good as they were back in the 60's to mid 80's, and from around 2000 until now. From about mid 80's until the late 90's they were on the brink of bankrupcy. Gibson bought the rights to build amps under the Orange brand for a while during the early 90's, but that didn't pan out very well. Their first big success they had after the terrible 80's and 90's was the release of the AD series. It really made them a name in the guitar world again. It wasn't until the Tiny Terror was released that things really took off though! It made them competitors to big brands like Fender and Marshall.

Dude! Video idea for ya. I'd love to see you go into detail about El84 tubes. I have heard other youtubers make almost.....I guess condescending comments about them. I own the mesa mark v 25 and rectoverb 25 both with el84 and I love them both but I would love to know why people find those tubes inferior because I just dont know what I'm listening for but clearing some people have reasons for them being not as good or whatever. I just want to know more about this. Just an idea. Thanks man!

All 3 of my Orange amps (th30 or15 jrt) FX Loops bleed. This one probly too. Chinese builds are crap, with stripped screws, crooked corners and techs that laugh at your choice of a chinese amp when you take it for its inevitable service. count me ex-orange fan for sure. I have two that need fixed and no one will do it inside Oregon. Orange can suck it.
