If you enjoyed the story please consider tipping our amazing human writers! ko-fi.com/starboundhfy
In a dimly lit interstellar bar, a seasoned hunter recounts a harrowing tale of his encounter with the galaxy's most terrifying predator. His prey was elusive, cunning, and possessed an uncanny ability to adapt and overcome. The seasoned hunter vividly describes a relentless chase on an unknown world, filled with unseen dangers and a chilling sense of being hunted by his own quarry. Only near the end is it revealed that the predator is human, and the hunt took place on Earth.

@@chadrowin2956 We do it all the time and I'm sure a small radio device would be easy to implant. Especially as they had him for all that time. I figured the author was working up to a release. Once you get as much data as you can reasonably process, behavior is the next thing. If you can't/won't try to form a relationship with the BBEG, then letting it go makes sense.

I am just always completely confounded when people think that hunters are very active creatures. Most of us are the complete opposite, able to remain completely still and silent for hours and hours. If you are active, even if your prey doesn't sense you, others will and this will alert your prey.

Pure speculation on my part: Z'track _thought_ he was dying, but his captors healed him while unconscious and released him to tell the tale and warn others away. Z'track is the storyteller.

An excellent story, riveting and well told! It's hard not to feel some sympathy for the captive hunter, an intelligent being, tortured and abused, who's only escape was death. But it was a fate that was earned; he and his kind had done the same thing to innocent humans, so they were hardly in a position to complain about their treatment. This is always the way with war: each side much harden it's heart against any compassion for the other. Still I wonder---was the death blow by the young human soldier given in necessity---or in mercy? Just a thought; maybe the story should not have been told in first person narrative style if the one telling it died. It leaves you wondering how his story has survived to be told. Or was that the point? That the old hunter in the bar is telling, in essence, a "ghost story", to warn others away from human worlds. I had hoped the alien hunter would be released, to carry the tale back to his kind. But if the humans were trying to remain secretive, they would not chance that. In fact, it might even be more effective if hunter after hunter invaded the planet, only to disappear and never be heard from again. Then again, at least someone must have gotten away, because the alien hunter's story is known, and if it had died with him, it would not be.

the deadliest predator is me. Why? Because I hunt. When your back is against the wall what can you do then? When you can't run away anymore. When you have nowhere left to hide. When you see your own reflection... Here's a sword. Pick it up.

it is an "improvised" weapon..... since it is not a weapon he uses normally. A Marine could consider an AXE as an improvised weapon in a fire fight.

Deadly blaster that can melt through advanced armor... Or a mundane pea shooter that shoots primative bullets? Do you consider a spear to be inferior? But an expert with a spear can still defeat someone with a gun.

@@johnchestnut5340 A gun only has range as it's benefits. Anything within 21 feet, and you're better off with hand to hand, and that's not even against scaly, indeterminately muscled aliens. Making assumptions, the BBEG could have grabbed a pencil as an improvised weapon, and been just as deadly with it.
@johnchestnut5340
@johnchestnut5340 2 ай бұрын
@goldengryphon False assuming a literal interpretation of your statement. A gun also has power. A weak person has the same ability to use a gun as a strong person. It is also easy not requiring years of training. There are other benefits. But that is sufficient to demonstrate that your statement is false. Range is a concern. But it is not enough to exclude using a gun.

If you can stop the dozens of comments on the videos without the Narrator box in the corner claiming that he was an AI and bashing the videos because they thought it was AI then I am sure he would be willing to take it off, until then I doubt its going anywhere. Thanks to the influx of AI narration channels for HFY content most human narrators have started doing this for the same reason. Better 1 or 2 comments about a distracting narrator box in the corner versus the dozens bashing and dismissing the stories because they think its just another AI narration channel.
