I think the game temporarily stripped Nicholas of all the material things that molded him into the selfish person he has become, and allowed him to rebuild himself from the ground up w/ just the bare essentials.

Now he understands the kind of despair his father was feeling, and how a person could be brought to that point. This helped him cope with his father's death and prevented him going down the same road.

The hardest part of the whole movie is predicting he would actually jump "to his death"; what a mind-job that game was on him! 🧠

Not even that but how would they know he would shoot at his brother, want to jump at that exact spot and then land directly at the bottom where the X spot was?

One of the actors told him that if he didn't jump, somebody would've pushed him. They were improvising based on his actions.

Kemi, the director of this movie, David Fischer, is known for his brooding tones and dark cinematography. You should watch his classic "Se7en" a highly rated thriller with Morgan Freeman and Brad Pitt. I can promise you will never forget it.

Wow such a great movie . This movie is truly one of the best movies I ever saw . It is a unique experience to watch this movie for the first time which you can not recreate. Other great underrated Michael Douglas movies are Don't Say A Word 2001 and A Perfect Murder 1998 and Disclosure.
