I did not realise you guys had made your own podcast. I used to watch the TGS/Co-optional podcast ALL the time. I'm so happy that you're both still doing this, you still have the same legendary animator doing the intro too. Man I've been missing out. Coincidentally I only learned a few weeks ago that a bunch of the old content from TGS/Polaris including the old podcast was deleted. Learning about that sucked but finding this podcast has really cheered me up. It's so good to see that you're still such good friends. You guys, TB and more really made my teenage years special and helped make me into the person I am now. Thank you. I know what I'll be binging the hell out of for the next few weeks.

​@@rajabuta I heard he's the Director of Media Acquisitions. Not someone who makes decisions on who lives and who dies, but hardly a nobody. If they had been honest about who he is, everyone would think this was an attempt by Tencent to gain favor. That Tencent didn't lead the charge on this suggests it was from him/a place of altruism. All that said, he has helped at most 10% of the affected, so this is not at all a solution. At all.

It is a huge unspoken rule among a vast majority of warframe fans not to spoil the second dream. Its an immense amount of joy to see peoples first time and the realization that no one spoiled it on purpose hits them like a truck. Its fantastic.

Warframe is such an ironic case because you just know Jesse would be all into all the lore and theorycrafting that setting has all over again just like WOW and FF14. The fact that he wasn't aware it has a story is so hilarious.

48:30 As a Warframe vet: Yeah, Second Dream definitely starts off the big stuff, and Dodger does have a ways to go before 1999 content. However DE has streamlined the game quite a bit and made getting through older content faster and some of it is optional. While I can't say exactly how many hours Dodger has until she's up to date, if she were to focus specifically on the story quests and keep her gear up to snuff, she'll be fine. Also - every weapon and "character" in Warframe can be viable even at high end play. If there's a weapon that's simply too enjoyable to switch out of...don't. Keep powering it up. Throw some formas on it, make different builds for it that is strong against different factions. Need mastery rank? Power up some other weapons/warframes and then switch back to the favored one. She'll be fine.

My one thought on where it still falls short for an awards show is they do too many "Let's rapid fire 5 awards so we can get back to the trailers." While the trailers are the main thing most people are tuning in for, they need to let at least a few more people onto the stage to accept their award.

The Outer Worlds is great if you're and old school Fallout fan, the combination of grim world with absurd humor. The DLC is pretty good too, one is like a murder mystery.

You mentioned Onimusha 3 with Jean Reno which, every time this game is mentioned I have to tell this story. So when I was a teenager my mom would usually buy me a bunch of games at Christmas, which were usually hit or miss as to whether I liked them. One year, she got me Onimusha 3 because it had Jean Reno in it and I loved Jean Reno - I hadn't played any of the other Onimusha games but that didn't matter. So I'm playing it, and I'm enjoying Jean Reno and he's speaking French and it's all good times. But then. BUT THEN. They had a magical fairy translation whatever happen so that Jean Reno and the other main character could understand each other, and suddenly, despite the fact that Jean Reno CAN SPEAK ENGLISH AND WAS IN ENGLISH MOVIES AT THIS POINT suddenly the voice actor is no longer Jean Reno. When I say I was MAD, I was so mad, I turned the game off and didn't play for the rest of the day at least I was so mad. I did end up playing again after I stopped being annoyed and the game is quite good, but I will never get over my betrayal, haha.

Oh my God, Jessie's explanation for why he isn't into Borderlands is sooooo relatable to me. I never liked the kinds of games where it's all about constantly micromanaging a hundred different stat differentials on my gear. I like when I just pick up a gun, and I know what it does, and I continue just having fun. Looter shooters just are not my kind of game at all.

I think we're seeing the ebb and flow of game trailers. What I mean by that is for a while everyone's been against the cinematic, 5 years off from release trailers, and studios backed off on that approach. But I think we saw what happened when the studios didn't do that: less hype, games only getting trailers a couple months before release, etc. So now I think we're rebounding from that approach

On Squid Games art style - Squid Games is LUDICROUSLY popular among kids. Not the show itself, but the aesthetics and horror themes. There are so many mods in Roblox / other games that have gotten insanely popular because of scream / jump scare influencers using Squid Game characters and their games (like the red light green light thing). I really cannot understate how popular these types of games are. That's why it has a Fall Guys-esque art style, because they don't want to ACTUALLY make it a violent deconstruction of capitalism and human desperation, because their main demographic wouldn't be able to play it. So it's Fall Guys.

Jesse's Outer Worlds monoluoge was the most praise I've ever heard for the game. So much so that I started questioning my opinion of it a little. Then he proceeded to explain his playstyle was intentionally playing againist the games pre-planned narrative and attacking npcs that tried to give him quests. The difference in opinion makes more sense.

I understand why many dislike the Lost ending, but I honestly think it aged well. One of those shows I can rewatch forever. Also valid points on it being created to have mystery and then later forced to explain and wrap it up. Think they handled that situation well.

Re Warframe: it used to be the case at least when I played that you could keep a gun you like (most of them anyway) and just keep upgrading it with morphs and mods to make it better.

1:30:10 3 Shows that come to mind *Dark matter,* *Stargate atlantis* (abrupt ending) and the famous one *Firefly* As someone that loves Sci fi shows. I've yet to find anything that comes close to *Fringe* (One of LOTRO-Actors is in it) and *Battlestar galactica* (in recent times) *Star trek* (needs a quick mention) in the 80s to early 2000s were great. But the new *Star trek* just cant be compared to those shows. I'm lucky if I find anything good worth watching nowadays (especially in Sci-fi) without bad plot, writing or Actors in it.

Watched this live for once, but here's an offering for the Algorithm =) To me, the TGA this year were worth it for the Okami announcement alone - it was so beautifully done, with such respect for the original, I couldn't help crying. The fact that a game like Okami - an artistic masterpiece of a game that was a commercial failure - could be revived as a franchise and given such a high profile treatment gives me joy and hope.
