The track record for female protags or writing female characters hasn't been good lately. People are afraid that the worst people are drawn to that character and mess it all up. Dragon Age VG is an example. It's that or just some sexists. In summary Female character is good if written well. Recent written female characters do not show promise due to the writer's ability.

Listen man FF7 Rebirth - HAD ISSUES with its ugliness on Performance Mode at Launch heck even till today , also its a REMAKE Black Myth Wukong - Also had performance issue at launch Elden Ring DLC - its a DLC .. just NO Metaphor Refantazio - Its a good game? BUT its not even close to Persona 5 level , performance had issues on PS5 even with the dated looking graphics Balatro - its just an addicting Poker Rogue Like card game Astro Bot tho??? From the Level Design , DualSense Implementations , Graphics and Gameplay .. its all POLISHED , its also very creative BUT I guess those who refuse to believe it never played it nor even liking it in the first place ... its 100% Deserved

Black myth wukong is an amazing game due to it being based on journey to the west and isn’t even close to being Elden Ring or copy and paste. Elden Ring shouldn’t even be considered a nominee as it’s a DLC for Elden Ring.
