I think the one single criteria for game of the year award is how many ppl had fun playing a certain game over the year.

yeah TGA keeps managing to one up itself, with every controversy it can find. I imagine that if a Keighley TGA show did things right, the universe would implode lol. But yeah point is, a DLC being nominated for GOTY is DUMB

Yeah that would be quite the sight 😅 I think last year was the closest they came to getting things right. At least with the GOTY. Thankfully I don’t think that the DLC will end up winning this year🤞🏾

What I truly don’t understand, and will never understand, is what effect does it have on an individual when a certain game wins game of the year? If your favorite game does not win, you’re still able to play it. The game doesn’t disappear, or is taken down. Literally NOTHING HAPPENS. Bragging rights? You’re not being financially compensated for playing a game. I really don’t understand. To be frank, if someone is so affected by a game winning game of the year or not, that person has got to reconsider his whole existence because there’s nothing redeemable about him/her if this little amount of *nothing* affects the person.

Nothing redeemable seems a bit harsh, but I see what you’re saying. A game winning or not, for sure, shouldn’t affect someone that deeply. But I can definitely understand cheering on your favorite games, and celebrating their success. I don’t see anything wrong with that. But yeah, it not winning won’t/and shouldn’t take away how they feel about the game.

Calm down no one's losing sleep over a goty award. If you're gonna give an award to a winner that the vast majority of the community disagrees with there's obviously gonna be backlash.

Look man I agree on all the points u mentioned but I feel stellar blade and silent hill should've gotten in. Imo they should remove balatro and SOTE. Don't get me wrong balatro is a great game and I adore it and have 100 hours but silent hill 2 and stellar blade are better. I would remove black myth wukong but it had a large impact with 20 mil sales so it has to be there cuz of impact sadly

I feel you. I definitely think it would’ve been cool to see Silent Hill 2 and/or Stellar Blade get some recognition. I don’t have a problem with Balatro, but I would’ve been cool to see one of those two get a nomination too. And yeah, they just couldn’t ignore Black Myth Wukong’s impact no matter how it was rated. What’s your pick for GOTY?
