I beta tested hyenas for awhile, It was one of the worst feeling shooters ive ever played in my life and im pretty sure the whole theme of the game was just a bunch of market buzzwords plugged into an ai generator. Not surprised it got canned after what i played.

It's not that the industry learned nothing, it's that what it learned was anti-consumer. The way it started? A company made a game, sold it, took its profit, and moved on to another game. Then, companies learned that if you put digital things into a game people could pay for over and above the price of the game, you made even more profit. That led to companies learning that if you made a game that people had to continuously pay to play, while still adding in things people could buy, you could make a boat load of money off one game. So yes, every company now wants to make that one game they can make billions off of for a decade. Why make anything else in their minds? There are games out there that exist simply because it makes a huge profit through microtransactions and (insert word like "battle" or "season") passes. This is actually no different of a mentality than us normal people. We can get a job, work, and get a paycheck every (insert pay schedule here). It's not a huge amount of money and it becomes a never-ending slog. OR, you can take the money you have, go to Vegas, and gamble it with the chance to hit that jackpot. How many people play the Lottery every (insert frequency) just hoping to win big vs how many people actually win? Yeah, people have won in the past, so, why not play and hope you are the next winner. The difference between the two is that people only have so much time and so much money. If they are dumping that time and money it into one game, the next "big thing" has to draw that person away from that game. And there are only so many players.

They think of us as sheep that they raise and herd to provide them with an endless supply of fleece while dumping whatever slop into a trough for us to consume. I think the video game needs a complete collapse (at least in the western market). Many of the games coming out now started development at the peak of activism in gaming. Now they are coming out and videogamers are simply exhausted with activism and agenda in their games. Simple as that. You can be sure that games starting development now will be revisiting the magic that made games great before.

Money men should stay just that an let the creative people do their job if they want to make a quick buck go to vegas, but video game company's are to blame as well selling out trying to out do their competition rather than just embracing the competition

Most normal men and women.. “we don’t want this” Ten transmissions.. “we want everything gay childlike and rainbow colored” Game devs.. “we’re gonna make it for the transmissions” Also game devs.. “why aren’t normal people buying our games??” lol.. well they’ll probably never figure it out.. modern game devs aren’t intelligent enough.. pretty sure they just type in gay into an AI nowadays and it makes the game for em.

Well, here I thought the SEGA suits actually have two braincells left to rub together after they cancelled Hyenas. Literally seeing the writing on the wall of total dud. Not only that but HOW could one even come up with the idea that a specialist for turn based grand strategy combined with RTS battles makes a good developer for a Hero FPS?
