There isn't really any initial pain. You hear a loud pop and then your foot goes a bit numb. I ruptured my Achilles the year after and it is a bitch of an injury because of the constant patience you have to have for it to heal. Imagine a rubber band thats stretched too far and breaks. Now imagine melting the ends back together. It won't be as strong until it cools down and you slowly stretch it until it can withstand being fully stretched out again. One of the worst injuries in sports and all it takes is for the body to have had enough.

This game reminded me of Kobe so much. One of the last games I saw Kobe in person was when he played GSW and they fell behind early by like 20… and Kobe and the Lakers fought all the way back and won the game.

What I remember...is thinking how great that Lakers/Spurs series was gonna be with Kobe, Dwight and Pau going heads up against that great San Antonio team. They really could've given that team a run for their money if Kobe hadn't popped his Achilles.

That was the season Kobe guaranteed the Lakers would make the playoffs. And he single handling took over that 2nd half of the season and the Lakers made the playoffs. And had Kobe not tore his Achilles the Lakers had a chance to beat the Spurs cuZ we know Kobe did great things against the Spurs. You definitely got your money’s worth watching Kobe he put on a show and he entertain, entertainer’s in L.A. Rest easy CHAMP you definitely deserve to.

Was watching this game live when it happened. I watched kobe since 98, and was my favorite player of all time. He made me want to be just like him on the court. And taught me how to play ball really. To watch him go the way he did was gut wrenching. But also showed just how amazing, and a straight champion this man was. I really think the generation of tough hardworking players died, in this game. Thanks kobe, for inspiring so many kids to be not just the best. But the greatest of all time !
