Lakers @ Warriors, January 12, 2011 | Kobe takes over Oracle Arena with a vintage Black Mamba performance in an electrifying showdown with Monta Ellis and the Warriors. On the second night of a back-to-back, Kobe came out slow in the first half with just 9 points and 5 turnovers as the 15-22 Warriors held a eight point lead over the Lakers heading into halftime. Kobe turned up the intensity in the third quarter with 13 points on 5/9 shooting, but the Lakers only cut off two points from the Warriors' lead. In an intense fourth quarter that saw Kobe and Monta Ellis go back and forth down the stretch, the two time defending champs would prevail behind 17 points by #24, scoring from all over the court to answer each bucket by Golden State. Kobe ended with 39 points on 13-for-21 shooting (.619%) to lead the Lakers to their 6th straight win.

You can say that again. The day the Chris Paul trade was vetoed changed the life of the Lakers and its fans. if that wasn't enough they then decide to trade Bynum who was playing at an All Star level for Dwight. We should have kept the same squad Kobe, Fisher, Lamar, Gasol, and Bynum. This team still had another 3-4 years.

Kobe bryant coming off of a back to back championship still playing every game like it's his last. having 5 rings and the guy still competed from start to finish injured or healthy every game he played. you didn't notice his decline after 2010 because of his skill iq and footwork and fundamentals what he did at 34 was awesome in 2013.

2013 season was his most underrated, especially with all of the bad team chemistry. He still managed to play his ass off. I'm glad to say I got to see him play in his entire prime because every player that came after him doesn't come close. He's the greatest player of this generation and the greatest player since Michael Jordan. Stats don't tell the entire story, especially when you don't watch the games.

The years when Lakers were dominant in 2008-2011 were my favorite stretches of the NBA ever. I'm only 16 so I didn't get a chance to see the Bulls own the 90's or the Lakers/Celtics rivalry in the 80's. I miss the 2010 Lakers man..... I have hope being a Laker fan since 2006, we will come back stronger in a few years.

People always talk about what a competitor Kobe is, and while he's scored more points in a game than he did in this one, this is a prime example of how Kobe has evolved (at least in his individual offense - he took two standstill threes that're bad shots with no ball movement or cutting); he scored 39 points on 21 shots. That's tremendously efficient and really shows how Kobe maintained his scoring mentality and tendencies without alienating his teammates as he had in past years when he would just shoot 30 times a game. Respect for greatness, he learned and evolved. He still has bad games shooting every now and again, but those championship years really showed his maturity and growth.

What dude, Kobe had to take them shots. Who he have for real when he was jacking up 30 shots a game. You dnt know Kobe career. He took a backseat for years to win Championships. When Shaq was faking Kobe took over. Got rid of Shaq and had the worst players in history. Kobe do what needs to be done to win. Example since you dnt knw. USA team, Kobe shut down the best player on the other team for them to win the gold. They say Kobe dnt pass. Look at all the finals Kobe in and the great assists he has. He became a master at the game cuz he was a student of it. He was taught by MJ n The Dream. Get it right

Kobe was still in his "too good" stage at this point in his career. How many other superstars, let alone just average NBA players knock down some of the shots he made not only in this game but throughout his career? I miss the prime Kobe days for real, you can say what you want about him but he was by far the most entertaining player to watch since Jordan retired, and really only Curry has come even close to matching that.

NBA was at its best from 2009-2014 when its was competitive around the league and more than just two teams had a chance at the championship (unlike these days which is GSW vs CLE for 3 years now smh)

If it wasnt for the injury he had on 2013 season..maybe he had 2 to 3 years more afte 2016 and made 36k plus points or more..maybe surpassing kareem..he missed a lot of games during his last 3 years..its sad to see kobe fought through a lot of injuries to stay in the nba..but what if..

Yeah back when they were on the Laker bandwagon lol. This was pretty much a home game for them, along with Sacramento and Clippers. Good times...

You can easily see Kobe's leg and knee leaving him this year, wish I knew it that year. But he was great regardless and that's why you didint it notice it that much. His jump shot barely had lift on it.
