A video of the Gatwick Express Class 442 units, the fastest 3rd rail electric multiple unit.
Featured in this video are a selection of stations across the Brighton Mainline, including Brighton, Gatwick Airport, East Croydon, Clapham Junction and terminus London Victoria. Also included is Lewes, where a Class 442 works Eastbourne - London Bridge.
Packed into this video are units 442401 - 442424. The future of these amazing trains is not certain and will soon be replaced by electrostar class 387/2s.
Brighton Station is first up, with peak time services to Gatwick Airport and London Victoria. Between Brighton and Gatwick Airport, we see some of the units at Preston Park, Hassocks, Burgess Hill and Three Bridges; with some lineside spots too such as Lovers Walk.
We then reach Gatwick Airport, where regular Gatwick Express services travel to and from London Victoria, with non-stop journey times of only 30 minutes.
After Gatwick, I head up to East Croydon before travelling to the UK's busiest railway station - Clapham Junction.
Afterwards, I make a short trip up to London Victoria, calling at Battersea Park on the way.
