From the Archives Series is a collection of films taken between 2003 to the present day. Originally intended for use in our A&J Video productions, they were left on the shelf until now.

I remember seeing the Junipers active around the early 2010s and my young mind never really liked them. Even now I see photos of them and think “who leant back in their chair after designing this and went “yep, that’ll do”. I also remember the Wessex Electrics and not thinking that much of them either, but now I actually find those ones interesting

We lived for a time in Bensham Manor Road, between Thornton Heath and Selhurst. Our garden backed directly onto the up Brighton fast. How I'd love to have seen any of the Gatwicks curl down the grade from Selhurst en route to Victoria. mind you, the Belle and the 6-PUL/PANs were awesome in their own right...and steam on the Oxteds.

In the early 2000's we used to make dvds under the A&J video brand. We had many more DVDs planned but never got round to making them and all the footage just ended up on a self. I thought that the second clip was too good not to feature again.

Are the old videos from 2003 filmed in widescreen from the beginning or did you crop the 4:3 into a 16:9 frame or even worse stretch the 4:3 to fit widescreen? Speaking of that. What format did you film on back then?

Virtually all my footage was originally filmed in the 16:9 format. The occasional film that is in 4:3 I would keep in that ratio and you'd see black bars down the side.

@@BPMR But what formats did you have that supported widescreen back then? Like I do have an old mini DV camcorder that can do anamorphic widescreen by tinkering in the settings menu basically it squishes the video horizontally when looking at the little LCD on the side of it.

@@slendermanRblx I had a Sony MiniDV camcorder (Cant remember the model number) this recorded directly into 16:9 or 4:3 in the settings. I choose to film in 16:9 even though most cameras at the time (2003) still recorded in 4:3. It was really new tech at the time but it future proofed my footage
