Everyone in this show is flawed. Benecio knows Caleb isn't what he wants, but he doesn't have the guts to end it. That's the real part of this. Benecio wants a fairytale romance and he is eager to settle for the first guy that pays attention to him. That's not healthy, it's Naive. His entire view of this relationship is something he built himself. Caleb could be any guy that shows him affection. These two don't work, they are trying to force it but it clearly isn't going to end well. It's beautiful and it's real, but it's not saccharine.

(this is basically the essence of this whole series, Brian telling us that), and then given all this fcking and scking, the next logical question is, so what then is marriage: "What it means is, that I commit to you. I commit to seeing you, and being present with you, even when it gets hard.". And finally, I love this bit "I literally like pink on my nails, it doesn't [...] have to be rebellion [...] it's a little thing I do for myself to remind me that I can be whatever I want to be as long as I'm not hurting other people", Such intelligent writing, you should be very proud Brian Jordan Alvarez. The whole show to me distills into those few critical lines (and in that sense reminds me of the South Park approach where below all the surface humor there's always those few key lines interspersed). The humor of course is a big part of the vehicle to deliver those key lines. And if all we get is the humor, that's still fantastic entertainment, I've been RFLOLing the whole way through! i love this show more than words can describe. it’s just so honestly queer and free and it feels like a dream but it’s such an amazing one. it’s hilarious and beautiful and captivating and i could watch it for literal hours on end. the raw, powerful emotions it has will keep it on my mind for years. thank you caleb gallo, and thank you brian jordan alvarez
