Genuine question. Should the chassis can not have been loaded cab first to put the weight more in the middle of the bed instead of hanging off the back?
@thehighwayband2 ай бұрын
When securing a machine onto the back of a lorry the best way to apply the straps is to always cross them. So if the machine is facing the same direction as the lorry you put a strap from the right hand front corner of the machine to the left hand side of the lorry, and so on with al the other straps.. When securing this way the machine is being forced downward in the same time that it is blocked from moving sideways. This set aside you just as always produced a heck of a video. The 18 Ton winch is a marvel. Hope you will have lots of jobs for it.

Never cross straps or chains. one breaks, the machine walks across the deck
@thehighwayband2 ай бұрын
@@HJZ75driver Actually this goes as well if you do not cross. The only way to prevent "walking across the deck" is to double strap. But the chances of a strap snapping are thus that you can ignore this ..... if you use the proper straps that are not damaged or worn out. That's the reason why they are limited and you should always use the ones that are suitable for the job. I have been 30 and years in the military, I transported airplanes, trucks, busses, AIFV's, APC's and tanks. I can assure you: all vehicles and machines on tracks are strapped down with chains crossed. For vehicles and machines on tires the way Greg does it is the proper way: the tires are pushed downwards on the deck and pulled to the sides, thus making it impossible to move whilst the vehicle suspension still can be active. But if one of those straps snaps the vehicle will start moving around, that much is true. Greetz.

I rekon to pull anything more than a small car, if it has sunk remotely then you will need bigger spades on the winch and possibly make the spade plate bigger than the skidsteer. I have a fair bit of winching experience using a full size 100hp tractor and 8 ton forestry winch and the tractor weighing 6 tons will slide back quite easily before the spades dig when the winch is pulling to the limits. The spade is farr more substantial and more angled on the winch. The principle is good, but i rekon you will need to adapt it.

Been watching your channel for quite some time and can say that Will has been a great improvement to the way it is presented, except for the distracting intrusion that keeps popping up in the bottom corner. This is something the americans started (and should have kept) but many have stopped doing because they even find it boring. The winch-X is a really neat bit of kit, maybe the ground anchor could be improved if it sat at an angle, similar to the old AEC Matador timber tractors, time will tell, but that is the beauty of developing things yourself, things can only get better. On a slightly different note. Do you know where your catch phrase "OK lets go" originates? Apparantly after the D-Day landings were postponed because of poor weather. When the weather cleared Eisenhower gave the order "OK Lets go". History lesson over. Keep up the excellent content.
