As someone who's been into Warhammer for a while, and GM'ed an ungodly amounts of tabletops set in this universe, this pleases me.
@brandondilworth82405 жыл бұрын
@David Strickland so if your looking for a non chaos chapter your almost better off making up a chapter of your own from an unknown founding in my opinion. That way you have a bit more control over the founding chapter. As for feats of strength I really dont have a answer for that sorry
@brandondilworth82405 жыл бұрын
@David Strickland so alot of the 40k universe can get into a "slugfest" with a space marines and win. Now with normal humans it's a little tricky are you going with any regiment specifically ( Cadian, catachan) or is it just a guard regiment?
@brandondilworth82405 жыл бұрын
@David Strickland so there is no non augmented human that can do that to a space marine. It would be the equivalent of a child fighting an adult. But most eldar can. The orks can. Ogrens theoretically could but they are too stupid for the most part. Now if you bring the powers of the warp into it then a "trained" psyker could maybe augment himself to win but for the most part a normal human cant 1 vs 1 a space marine in tabletop a guardsman is 4 points a model and the space marine is 12 so it would take 3 guardsman to equal 1 marine in theory
@brandondilworth82405 жыл бұрын
@David Strickland so a guardsman's flashlight (lasgun) can kill a space marine its possible but usually it takes alot of luck and the army has a focus on mass fire with orders from the officers than an individual guardsman. I understand this story may not make sense but in tabletop I have killed a full terminator squad with Lasguns it just took over 150 individual lasgun shots and some luck
@brandondilworth82405 жыл бұрын
@David Strickland so the standard Mars pattern bolter (standard weapon for the space marines) is a .75 caliber explosive grenade. I couldnt tell you the firing rate but I've been going off guardsman for a reference to normal humans. If you want standard astartes equipment you need to look at each chapter and what they do best. Is it salamanders with they're hard on for fire. Or imperial fists that are highly disciplined and focus more on defense, or the ultra smurfs and the adherents to the codex astartes. Not to mention the space marines also have heavy weapons like the plasma cannon or the heavy bolter

Warhammer: We aren't sure if our guys even register as human anymore...when they aren't screaming holy scripture and purging in His name, they just stand there....menacingly. Edit: Seeing the war I've whipped up, I'll clear this up. Space Marines (Adeptus Astartes) are better and worse in various aspects when compared to other super soldiers in different franchises. While the Astartes were meant to fight for humanity, they are so changed that they are (in all intents and purposes) separate from the species. A Space Marine is more and less than a man could ever be.

It exaggerates and plays around with the lore a fair bit though? Not really good if you want to get reliable information about the universe, but is great way to introduce people to the universe (though in a somewhat biased manner) Edit. Sorry, I meant *insanely biased manner*

Another more major reason why they don't just create Space Marines out of just every guardsman they can, is because the majority of people would just never survive the process.

I thought in the lore it said space marines aren't castrated, they just have a normal baby if they somehow end up making someone pregnant.
@dashiellgillingham45795 жыл бұрын
@@thedoruk6324 Not really, when you think about it. We actually have a perfect example of how hormones work without use of the related organs in a minority group today: transexual men who spent the majority of their puberty on hormone treatments. Physically, these men are completely indistinguishable from others of their gender, however, they completely lack testicles. Even should they take the drastic step of gender reassignment surgery, they only have prostheses, not the actual functioning organs. You can get everything they can give you through a pill or syringe, therefor they are not needed for space marine augmentation. I apologize in advance to everyone I just made profoundly uncomfortable, but most of you knew what you where getting into reading below a comment that mentions super-soldier castration.
@dashiellgillingham45795 жыл бұрын
@@adrianflare7951 Um... no, not at all. There is some old lore about the Emperor of mankind having children (and when I say old, I mean it literally has not ever been mentioned since the first release of the first book of the first edition of 40k in the early 1980's) but those children where superhuman, demon-murdering space samurai. As far as I know, space marines are completely infertile and lack a sexual response on a physical level. They're essentially stunted to a prepubescent state by the enhancements unless they are severally mutated.

Correction on the Ossmodula's effect on the ribcage: It does not fuse the ribs together. It forms the ribs into individual bony plates that overlap like an armadillo. They can still bend and expand, but they provide much greater protection against anything that would try to get between them.
