I knew about Patrice way before he passed (as a fan of O&A that is) but I totally understand how you feel. I never really bothered to check out Patrices comedy until soon after he died. To me Elephant in the Room is like the blueprint of a perfect standup comedy special and I sort of feel like a phony bandwagoner for only appreciating it until after he was dead. I know you're really into his views on relationships and women but I think that EITR was maybe the one of the greatest standup specials of all time IMO.

This is why you don't get married, if you have an argument then divorce threatening comes out and its never the woman whos going to be punished by the divorce, its the dudes. Patrice could tell his girl that its fine for her to leave and she didn't leave because she cant get anything from him. Marriage makes a woman complacent and lazy in the relationship, they think they're safe enough to let themselves go and eventually stop having sex even because its so expensive to leave them.

Straight up man, I always refused to get married to my girl despite living with her for six years, and people thought I was a cold dickhead for it. Now she's considering leaving, staying at a friend's place, and I don't look so foolish now, do I? Maybe I'll let her come back, maybe I won't, but guess who's got all the real power because I chose to protect myself instead of caving to social pressure? Never let em bitch you up, my slight recent softness is what got me in this predicament to begin with, but at least I won't have any legal shit to deal with, and she's still stuck paying half the lease on an expensive apartment I now have all to myself.

OBFLife Patrice wasn't a perfect person. He understands the psychology of how women in how our society think and knows what makes them tick. But if you're a perceptive person like he is you'd see he had issues with relationships in the past, or was disolutioned with how women are in our society, and that that fucked him up a bit. Great advice if you just want to get laid and are dealing with superficial women, but following it to a T isn't healthy if you're looking for happiness. I think he was probably a pretty damaged person and not very happy deep down.
@OBFLife9 жыл бұрын
ANCIENT THOUGHTS You're probably right...but no monogamous relationship has ever brought me happiness like having a rotating stable did...and his method seemed conducive to acquiring a stable. I made this comment 6 months ago and since then I've applied some of his practices and I have a good ratio going on now. I know applying everything he ever said is probably not a winning strategy for everyone (or anyone, really), so I just took little bits and pieces that were relevant.
