Back in the 70's I use to repair these same motors in the huge shop of a big refinery. We had all the best tools, all the manufacturer's manuals, all the parts we could ever need, and a manufacturer's tech desk only a phone call away. Even then those damn things were hard to repair. This is a testament to this girl's brilliance. Thank you young lady! Great channel!

Given the lack of modern tools used in rewinding motors, this young lady did an amazing job on this TEFC motor. There are things she did that are a little disturbing, but since she does not have a hydraulic press to install bearings, I would use a hammer too to install them. She knows what she is doing and uses techniques that are used in the motor repair industry here in the states. If she were working here in the US, I would be happy to give this lady an opportunity to work in my company’s shop. By providing her better tools and equipment designed for motor rewinding, this lady would be an awesome employee. I’d hire her in a New York second.

I don't know your age and overhauling motors throughout the years have changed. Her techniques are old school and are still used by field mechanics. The equipment she uses can still be purchased today. The motors and generators she rebuilds are probably over 40 years old and it's best to rebuild them old school. You are only seeing the tools she is using. That's how I see it.

It doesn't matter how old the motor is. Ball bearings should NEVER be hitted directly with a hard steel hammer. I learned this in my engineering education already over 45 years ago. To assemble ball bearings on a shaft you need to use a tube that only touches the inner ring of the bearing. Use a tube of aluminium or copper or put a piece of wood between the tube and the hammer or use a "soft" hammer. Why? - Because the contact surfaces between the rings and the balls are very small and the intense shocks a hard hammer give cause small defects on these surfaces that will cause noise (can be noticed already when you rotate the shaft by hand) and significantly decrease the lifespan of the bearing.

@@ontheroadagain4773 that would be the engineering standard. Due to the situation is probably why she uses a carpenters hammer instead of a ball peen. A carpenters hammer has a softer face. I have never used aluminum to seal a bearing. Mainly a brass punch, wood or a socket. You can off set a bearing with aluminum, , because of its properties. Not everybody on the planet has access to a bearing press. They have to improvise to get the job done. If notice in the video she is using short strokes and hitting the bearing on the inside and.outside at the same time. What most of you seem to forget is she is in the jungle of Southeast Asia and that would be like living off grid in the United States. I'm assuming none of you have been there.

@@joehartoebben9666 In the jungle maybe. But she has for example sandblasting equipment (more efficient than mine) and a hydraulic outpuller (which I don't have). So I don't think it would be so difficult for her to have some scrap pipe stubs and I'm sure she has some pieces of wood, right? If you constantly do this work you should have at least cheap and simple but still proper tools. Yes, you could be right about aluminium and I've never used it either. In my opinion even a carpenter's hammer is too hard and their hardness actually differs from each other a lot. And yes, I can see that she tries to hit both the inner and outer rings at the same. How successful she is I can't tell. The hitting surface of a hammer is usually a little rounded. I've watched a lot of her videos. The hammer seems to be her favourite tool. Sometimes she should also be more careful with aluminium alloy and cast iron parts. - But I've seen worse. Novices learn from videos like this. That's why things should be done the right way. I just want to do things carefully and accurately. I've seen new bearings that keep abnormal noise directly after they have been installed by using hammers. It's funny that you mentioned "living off grid in the US". I like to follow channels like "Ambition strikes" They live off grid and have more technology than most of us - but I know what you mean....

Your very talented. One thing I did notice that I was taught here in the US not to do is solder terminals. The solder can cause issues over time and failures. At least thats what I was told. Other than that you completely restored that motor. Great work. :)

Well, someone really needs to teach her how to assemble ball bearings. She already pretty much destroyed them. NEVER hit them directly with a hard steel hammer! You are so talented! It´s a joy to se you work!. I´d never have the courage to even try to repair an electric engine. I´ve got a little friendly :) tip for you that i learned at tecnical college here in Sweden; - Never strike a hammer directly onto a roller bearing. Always put a piece of wood or something in between. Otherweise the bearing might crack. A metal pipe with siutable dimention around the axel coul be used. And, always strike on the inner ring. I think I need to add that the contact surfaces between the rings and the balls or rollers of a bearing are very small and those hammer strikes cause small deformations to these surfaces that will cause noise and significantly decrease the lifespan of the bearing.
