The big stars were great, but James Anderson (Ruby's brother) gave another of his best roles. He was the despicable Tom Ewell in To Kill A Mockingbird. I was snubbed as a 9 year-old when my best friend was a black girl. I was as angry as Ruby, but I didn't get to pay them back. It still goes on with the rich looking down their noses, and always will. Great movie-TY!

Somehow the Ruby character doesn't elicit any sympathy. Perhaps the script writer didn't give the actress enough good lines or maybe the actress doesn't do a convincing job. Over and over you keep waiting for the slightest bit of likeability, but she just keeps coming across as selfish and heartless and scheming. And that's when she's not coming across as a cat in heat.

The other one I like alot was " Since You Went Away" w/ Claudette Colburn, Joesph Cotton again, Shirley Temple, including Robert Walker, Jones and he played young sweethearts in the movie, and married in real life but going through a break-up, that must of been tough on him.
