I live near this, about 25-ish minutes or so away, for Halloween they make it an attraction and you walk through with people jumping out at you and I used to go a lot, so much fun!

Really nice, has more paint and lighting since I was on her. I didn't know that they had overnight stays there. Did you see the picture in the wheel house of a wave crashing over the wheel house? That's a big wave. Thanks again

Drove by it many times and fish that lake often, but I have never stopped and toured this ship. After seeing the video, it's on my to do list. Thanks for the great video.

What a fabulous video!! I love this ship. Every time I see her, I learn something new. There's even a photo of one of the Chief Stewards in the galley. The COM is truly living history.

Around 10 or so years ago, we acquired the original captains sea coat along with documents like his captains license and immigration papers. We also have various other things that had been owned by him.

I wouldn't like to pay too much money to be cold indoors, What time of year did you go? Interesting video thanks
@RestlessViking Жыл бұрын
It wasn't that cold - Poppins gets cold though. Maybe 55 F and they had heaters in the rooms if you wanted to use them. I believe it was early June during an unusual cold spell.

That is so awesome...but what was crawling in the walls?
@RestlessViking Жыл бұрын
Good question. I think just a couple of rodents were crawling around between decks. It was just a couple of moments of scratching and running across the ceiling in the night. I didn't think anyone read the comments. LOL.

Not sure if that is same vessel but when I was about 12 yo (1959) my parents and I took a ferry from Muskegon, Mi. to Milwaukee, took about 8 hours or so, and we slept all night on the crossing.

@@stevekunde123 Ah! LOL. I thought you met a "List of Items". 🤣😂 Yeah, there wasn't any noticeable list on the ship. But, now that you mention it, it does look like it is listing on film.

Poppins? What kind of a name is that!?
@tetraire384410 ай бұрын
Odd, I wondered the same thing many years ago when I had some lasting experiences with another teacher named Poppins . I have not met the Poppins of these wonderful videos so I can not give an authoritative answer for her but , as a very young student and aspiring teacher, I learned that to succeed as she had, one needed to be both stern and tender, secret and proud, anonymous and loving, quietly moving with confidence, though occasionally a bit fanciful and flighty, hoping for subconscious influence on those who knew them. Many, many similarities between these two. Though neither have ever said so, I believe the surname is originally British, perhaps from a line of educators.
