Pretty much. Each of these timelines all had the same "Prime" timeline I guess you would call it. The timeline Kyle Reese came from. And it's safe to say that the Kyle we see in T1 was not the first Kyle to go back in time, one big loop that was broken in T2 leading to T3 and Salvation. And then once again broken in 1973 creating the Genisys timeline that plays out extremally different. And then finally Dark Fate, spoilers but we know what happens. Skynet sending Terminators at different points in time just ends up creating a bunch of "alternate timelines"

I see a lot of people complain about the state of movies today and frankly that's the problem. People want to blame writers when they and some directors have less and less say in what they're doing. It's arrogant executives thinking they know how to write and direct, when they're really just attempting to ape the most shallow aspects of popular films without understanding why they are successful.
@wolf9walker
@wolf9walker Жыл бұрын
It was poorly received because some believe judgment day was stopped at the end of T2, which it can't be stopped. Some believe this is an insult to the T1, which I don't believe it is so. Messing with time changes things. The 1st two movies changed things, created another timeline. At least that's what I think, I love all of these. But admit T2 is the best of them all
@aadil2o12

It was poorly received because it doesn't make sense. And they wanted to girl boss it and make John Connor (white male) evil. They also tried to retroactively redo two of Hollywood's arguable best movies even tho the audience has rejected the last 2 movies and the Sarah Connor Chronicles was good but canceled.

So yes like other have said this film follows the future war depicted in the first film, At least a version close to what we saw in the first time, The Future War where Kyle Reese came from. That Future War began in 1997 and then in 2029 the resistance lead a final strike on the Skynet core, before the core went down Skynet sent a T-800 back to kill Sarah Connor (The T-800 we see in Terminator 1) and then of course Kyle Reese went back in time to stop her. Terminator 3 takes place in a timeline where Judgement Day was delayed to 2004 (Thanks to Sarah Connor in T2) and then Terminator Salvation happens in this same timeline within an alternate Future War where began in 2004 instead of 1997 so a few changes like how certain people met to slightly more modern weapons, vehicles etc. That's why John meeting Kyle is different in this version. But what we see in this film is an alternate version of T1. Kyle comes face to face with a T-1000 waiting for him in 1984 (Did not happen in the original film) while a decade before this in 1973 Skynet sent a T-1000 back to kill Sarah when she was a kid this creating a whole new timeline. Sarah's family died but she was saved by a T-800 who was sent back in time by someone we don't know. Sarah was then trained by this T-800 into a badass. We also have Matt Smiths character who attacked John Connor in the beginning. My theory around him is he's the embodiment of Skynet from an alternate timeline where Skynet was much more advanced.

The Terminator timelines are like one big loop so before the events of Genisys it pretty much played out like the first film so kyle saved Sarah from the T-800. John Connor is then born and leads the Human resistance aganst the Machines with future insight from his mother who was informed about the future by Kyle Reese. But once this version of Kyle goes back to 1984 this is when everything changes, he's pretty much expecting everything to play out like the first film as that's what Sarah told John what happened who then gave that information to Kyle.

Based on how Haley and Stella both always react to seeing Arnold and also how they react to seeing kids in films, I think they would both love his movies Kindergarten Cop and Twins. For me, the highlight of the movie was actually seeing Schwarzenegger fighting Schwarzenegger. Unfortunately, it barely lasted that long at all. I would've enjoyed a sequel to this movie, but I honestly did not like it enough to want a sequel either. It also bombed at the box office and so, no sequel was made to it. The next "sequel" ignores every sequel after T2. Personally, I think all the humor was misplaced and misused in this movie. I enjoyed it for what it was, but I think I would've liked it more without the humor and it just had too much going on that it became almost silly, IMO. In the Terminator 2 novel, there is a part where the rebels break into Skynet, walk down a corridor of other Terminator models and find 2 empty pods at the end. 1 of them is for the Terminator sent back to 1984 and the other one was for the one sent back to 1995. I always wanted to see that shown in live-action. The start of this movie was promising, but I thought the futuristic sequences looked too clean-cut and almost like a video game. I honestly think it would've added a lot more nuance & changed the emotional resonance of the whole franchise, not to mention close up a plot-hole, if Sarah had never told John in the first place who his father was. Personally, I never liked that even back in T2, John already knew who Kyle Reese was. If Sarah never told him, John never would've known he was sending his own father back in time to die but was just sending 1 of his best soldiers, which would've made that action even more emotional for us. That would've also meant everything John did growing up really was of his own making and not based on some future he already knew. I personally thought the story in this movie was interesting and I would've actually enjoyed a sequel, but at the same time I feel it was just too convoluted and messy overall to follow, not to mention undoing the events of the 2 best Terminator films of the franchise. Actually, I think it may have been more interesting to have the film show the events before this film. I said it before and I'll say it again, the Sarah Conner Chronicles TV series was a return to form and also is what I consider the truest sequel to T2, returning the franchise to its horror roots and also making it more sci-fi and not just a straight-up action film.

Your like me you thought the plot had potential but the script needed a lot of work. Also the casting for Kyle and John in this was god awful. The original Kyle looked and acted like someone who lived in the post apocalypse he was skinny, scared, and had PTSD. He didn't look like he got three square meals a day with afternoons in the gym(and everybody in the future was too damn clean. Where were they getting the soap and shampoo?). And John. John was never shown as baby faced. In any version...this guy looked more like a mid level manager than the leader of a military resistance.(and also a bit too well fed for living in the apocalypse). Clark was ok but her and the new Kyle had horrible chemistry. Casting director really dropped the ball on this one.

Yeah I think Twins would be a good fit, because Arnold really hit his stride toying with preconceptions about his demeanor. It's been ages but I remember liking that quite a bit. I'd also be curious to see them watch Predator or Commando where he had zero campiness and was full tilt 80s action guy.

@@markcarpenter6020 "this guy looked more like a mid level manager...", LOL! That's awesome! I know this movie came out years ago, but I am so honestly done with nanotechnology being overused in movies now. It seems almost like a cheat code now. I remember first learning about nanotechnology in a seminar decades ago and thought it sounded really cool and honestly, I even thought nanotechnology could actually be used to make real-life lightsabers. But, now nanotechnology is so overused as like a catch-all-be-all to do just about anything. As I mentioned in my comment, I enjoyed the movie for what it was and think I would've even enjoyed the sequel, which I think could've been much better. But, overall, the movie was too convoluted, did away with what made the first 2 Terminator movies so special, and was more of a straight-up action movie. I am a big action movie fan, but sci-fi horror is the root of the franchise. I thought individually, each of the cast was good. But, yep, I agree the chemistry between Emilia Clark and Jai Courtney was just not there. It was not bad, but just no connection there.

@@Jonny-4K Interestingly enough, after I saw the movie Extraction 2 (really great movie, by the way), I saw that interview Hemsworth did where he talked about meeting Arnold in the gym and Hemsworth talked about how there was an homage in the film to Commando (I love Commando!). That then led me down a series of rabbit holes where I then learned and never knew before that the original ending of Commando was different and was rewritten at the last minute specifically to try to outdo what Stallone did near the end of Rambo 2 (previously, called just Rambo before First Blood was renamed to Rambo). I think Arnold was really good in his comedies. I even thought Junior was pretty funny too and I think Jingle All the Way is almost as iconic as a must-see Christmas movie as National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation or Elf, no joke. I think many of Arnold's early films are underrated and not really that well-known at the time. I loved both Raw Deal and Red Heat! He was also hilarious in Hercules in New York. There was a later version released with his original voice not dubbed. I think Arnold has a lot of underrated movies like End of Days, Collateral Damage, The Last Stand, The 6th Day, Sabotage, etc. People know him primarily as the biggest action 90's guy and he was, but he had many other movies outside that era that were underrated and he played against type.

This was the best one after the first two movies (it's not telling much, but still). The opening was done very well, future war was more or less fine, terminators stopped throwing people away from them, Emilia Clarke was pretty good as Sarah Connor, always great to see J.K, Simmons and his character was a nice contrast to Dr. Silberman from the originals, etc.. On the other hand, the John Connor robot was really out there, the timeline was very convoluted, skynet being a mobile phone app was awful and this Kyle Reese just didn't work for me. Still, a lot of people hate on Genysis but I think it's better than T3, T4 and T6.

This movie was a fun ride! Glad to see Arnold back in action once again! Before Emilia Clarke was cast as Sarah Connor, Brie Larson, Tatania Maslany, and Emily Blunt were considered for the role. Clarke worked with director Alan Taylor on several episodes of Game Of Thrones. Before Jai Courteney was cast as Kyle Reese, Garrett Hedlund, Boyd Holbrook, and Tom Hardy were considered for the role of Kyle Reese. Alan Taylor did not have a good time making this movie, as Clarke in an interview that "he was being mistreated by the producers, telling him that he didn't know how to make an action scene work, or how to help the stunt team pull off n impossible stunt,or how he didn't bother to read the script, letting the actors do what they want." Clarke was a happy that the sequel was cancelled, as she didn't want to star in a franchise that treats its directors poorly.

Quick gun fact: the weapon Reese was using in 1984 that was unexpectedly explody was a normal M16 rifle (or something similar, kinda tough to see in the dark) with a barrel mounted M203 grenade launcher (perfectly normal in '84). So at least there there's no weird anachronisms. Also IMO, it makes perfect sense that Sarah wouldn't be too preoccupied with how fashionably her hair is, given she's been trained to survive since age 9. This movie really does try its best to tie in all the loose ends, and mostly succeeds, if you don't mind a bit of comic book deus ex machina. I enjoyed it plenty more than 3 and 4, even if the John Connor thing was pretty weak.

New Kyle looks like a well fed dude who hits the gym regularly with none of the originals desperation (not mentioning his lack of chemistry with Clark). And the new John was also too well fed and had a face completely different from any other depiction of John. New guy is too baby faced and looks more like a mid level manager than the leader of a resistance.

While Terminator: Salvation CAN be seen as a direct sequel to Terminator 3 it's still considered a soft reboot while this movie is a hard reboot. Also as of Terminator: Dark Fate the movie Terminator 3 is also stand-alone. So basically the timeline goes line this. - Terminator - Terminator 2 - Terminator: Dark Fate. These are all direction sequels of each other as it currently stands. - Terminator 3 ( set within it's own timeline ) - Terminator: Salvation ( soft reboot can be seen as a sequel to T3 ) - Terminator: Genisys ( hard reboot, completely set within it's own timeline )

This is when the franchise really starts to get wibbly wobbly timey wimey, which is appropriate since Dr. Who is in the movie. Things get rewritten or just flat-out ignored. But people didn't like how the movie essentially rewrites the chronology of the first two movies, especially how this movie basically erases Terminator 2 - the best movie in the series - from the timeline. Personally, I feel Jai Courtney is miscast as Kyle Reese. He just doesn't have the intensity of a man who has grown up being hunted by killer robots in an apocalyptic wasteland that Michael Biehn and Anton Yelchin brought to the role. Also, the twist that John Connor had become a Terminator was spoiled IN THE TRAILERS. That's a cardinal sin in movie marketing.

After watching Dark Fate, I had an interesting thought. Skynet begins to understand that in each timeline in which it sends back an assassin to kill either John or Sarah Connor, a resistance fighter also goes back to stop it, and it then changes its mission from just killing the Resistance leadership to preserving itself and protecting Judgment Day to ensure it comes to pass. It then begins sending a near-infinite number of machines into various points past-ward along the timeline with kernels of itself to ensure its existence in as many timelines as possible. You've become familiar with the term "causality loop". You know that really, there's no such thing. What would exist in such a case, with innumerable timelines being created and branching off from each nexus point, be it Judgment Day, Skynet's defeat or a Terminator's arrival in a past-ward point on the Prime Timeline, is what is termed a "causality tree". Skynet's new mission is then to create as many branches on the causality tree as possible where it survives and the Resistance is never formed. Needless to say, it tries to cover its tracks but it underestimates the skill of Resistance IT geeks, and they discover its mission and start sending people and reprogrammed Terminators past-ward to prune the causality tree, to ensure Skynet never gets created and that Judgment Day never comes to pass. Might make for a great television series...😊

I heard stories of US snipers, human heads blow up like watermelon. Another said, he used explosive round shells instead of the regular 50 bullet on an enemy & went to look over to confirm the kill. All but his torso was gone & it was visceral. Yeah, that’s how powerful that sniper rifle is. It does penetrate bulletproof vehicles including an attack helicopter/gunship except heavy armor like military tanks. Any kind of material except the tanks will be pierced through. Imagine using a car or truck to escape, that sniper rifle can destroy them with a well placed shot such as the engine & it takes only 1 shot.

Depending on your understanding of time travel and because of the different directors the Terminator franchise is 1-4 different timelines. There’s a few breakdowns online to understand the timelines.
@Alexanderthegreat159
@Alexanderthegreat159 Жыл бұрын
This is more or less an alternate timeline. The bombs dropping on 97 is right in this because this is the timeline of the first kyle. So the call that goes back in this one is the same one that goes back in the original movie but this timeline is changed because rather than sending a Terminator to Sarah when she's older like the original movie they sent one to the past when she was a kid and of course one was sent to protect her So it move the whole present day timeline back because of Genesys. The new Terminator that it turned John had changed the timeline and tried to correct things sooner. So that's why everything is happening sooner than it normally would have because they tried to start skynet off stronger more or less. It is kind of confusing but pretty much it's an alternate timeline from the first four movies so you can technically say it's reboot. Then of course, and I hate to say this, dark fate is its own dumpster fire They pretty much made that movie because they wanted to make the main hero a woman. Which is literally the only reason it was made but it was nice to see Sarah Connor again no matter what and she's still a badass in that movie so I'll let it slide. But dark fate is its own timeline because more or less what they do in it makes it impossible to have anything to do with the other movies

T3 and up to this movie are not canon. James Cameron said himself that the story line is Terminator, Terminator Judgement Day, and Terminator Dark Fate. So when you watch Dark Fate know that you are actually watching part 3.

This was supposed to be the first movie of a new trilogy based off of this timeline, but due to the bad feedback and not the best at the box office got totally shelved. Then they decided to make Dark Fate which is in Jame's Cameron's "opinion" the third movie of Terminator ignoring T3 Rise of the Machines, Salvation and Genisys. Essentially there's different timelines with this franchise. Original is T1, T2, T3 Rise of the Machines and Salvation. Second timeline Genisys(planned for 2 more movies but that idea got scrapped) Third timeline T1, T2 and Dark Fate. There was also the TV series Terminator:The Sarah Connor Chronicles but that was confirmed to be not canon at all to the movies and just it's own timeline all together. Now I heard since Dark Fate did even worse than this movie did, that Cameron is planning a whole full reboot. He said he wants to focus more on the machines, Skynet's perspective so we'll see what happens. You know Arnold will have at least a cameo or something I'm sure.

As Arnie once said "judgement day is inevitable". And that brings in the paradox. There's always going to be a war and machines, ALWAYS. Which means changing the past makes no difference but also it changes everything. Everytime things change a whole new time line is written, which means there's infinite timelines/multiverses. And then you have to wonder do all those multiverses have the same rule as ours, that "judgement day is inevitable" 🤔 this stuff makes your head hurt, but they are so much fun. There was a short lived tv series about Sarah and a teenage John. Again it appeared to be a totally different Terminator universe. It showed a future where some of the machines wanted peace, and where fighting other machines. Unfortunately the infamous writers strike took this show, but it had an interesting story. There was a scene with a submarine collecting a package from an underground base the that blew my mind.

White noise - that gun is an AR-16 which has a normal Automatic gun on top . on the Bottom is a 40mm Grenade launcher , its similar to the Weapon Armold had in T2 . except the one Arnold had was just the Grenade launcher , without a gun Attached.

The thing that really interests me about this movie is as you said- the last time they turned a human into a terminator they kept their humanity. That explains why John didn't kill them at the hospital right away. But they turned on him and maybe that made him lose his humanity in a sense or let go of it. If so then Sarah, Kyle and Pops are actually sort of the antagonists because they didn't trust him and be friends.

A main difference was that Marcus was basically a terminator but had at least a part of his brain, heart and nervous system installed into the chassis. Here, John was re-written and re-built on a cellular level. Marcus refused to be used or let go of his humanity. John, on the other, "understood" the grand scheme of Skynet.

Dude what are you talking about? Even IF they did trust him, his plan was always to save Skynet and once Skynet was saved, it would be the end for humanity because despite how John may have felt about his parents, Skynet is a savage. Just because he was helping them get out because they were his parents doesn't mean he was going to stop Skynet or stand aside while they tried to stop it. He wasn't John anymore. I don't see how people can compare him to Marcus from Salvation here. Just because he retained his memories? John's human tissue down to his bodily fluids were replaced by nanorobots and totally susceptible to Skynet's will. Marcus was actually a lot more human than John was here.

It's hard to say what direction things would have gone in had this film originally gotten the two planned sequels, but one of the head canon theories for the timeline discrepancy when compared to T4 is that T4 led into potentially a fifth or sixth loop of the timeline that somehow altered the date of Judgement Day back to 1997. As a result, the version of Kyle that is sent back in this film is actually the start of yet ANOTHER loop (more on this later), and the reason why he retained his memories despite the timeline changing was because he was already in a time displacement field when Skynet caught up to John and killed him in 2029. Time travel stories can be fun, but they can quickly get complex real fast once you have multiple versions of events in play. That goes double once you bring in alternate timelines and reboots (such as the TV series which is actually good, and then Woke Fate which takes a giant steaming shit on the series that was so massive that it actually made some fans look back at T3-T5 and realize they actually weren't THAT bad) With a series like this, it really does help to map out the multiple timelines. The general theory that I myself follow is this: Original Timeline: 198X: John Connor is born (Not as the son of Kyle/Sarah, and as Kyle is not the father, his actual DOB could be somewhat in flux depending on who the father was) 199X: John meets Kate (Speculation, but it plays into things) 2003: Kyle Reese is born (Exact DOB is never stated, but the important thing is Kyle wouldn't be old enough to know of a world without the war) July 24, 2004: Judgement Day, start of the war 2004-2029: The Dark Years John might not be a high ranking leader of the Resistance, but he winds up becoming perhaps the most important member as he's the one that leads the assault team that destroys Skynet 2029: Kyle and a T-800 are sent back to 1984 and start the first loop, after this the TIme Displacement Equipment (TDE) is destroyed First and foremost: when time travel comes into a plot, there MUST be an original and unaltered version of events. End of story. Exact dates and details are unknown on several things, but it's a fairly safe bet that Judgement Day was most likely in 2004. Now, why do I have Judgement Day as 2004? Simple: Cyberdyne didn't have the parts from the T-800 sent to 1984 as time travel hasn't come into play. As a result, Skynet's original origin would have likely been as seen in T3. As for John meeting Kate? Well, in some cases you really can't fight fate, and had John grown up in the same general area that his foster family in T2 lived in, it would have still been possible for him to meet her. As a result, it's entirely possible the version of John Connor from an original and unaltered timeline would have a connection to her father. In turn, this could be where some of his initial military training came into play as General Brewster is a high ranking member of the Resistance in some timelines. Anyway, events proceed, but this isn't what we see on screen in the first film. Instead, we get this: First Loop: May 13th, 1984: Kyle and the T-800 arrive in the past 198X: Events don't play out exactly as we see in T1 19XX: This version of Kyle wouldn't have his instant connection to Sarah and was merely a volunteer, so their relationship is likely more of a slow burn John is conceived as the son of Kyle and Sarah leading to a MAJOR timeline alteration It's possible this version of John has knowledge of the future direct from Kyle, but at some point Kyle dies trying to save Sarah and John as it is noted John's father died "before the war" July 24th, 2004: Judgement Day 2004-2029: Despite no connection to Brewster, John becomes a much more important member of the Resistance and eventually the leader due to his previous knowledge Skynet is still destroyed, Kyle and the T-800 are sent back to start the Second Loop, the TDE is destroyed. Unlike the original timeline, John and Sarah have advanced knowledge of Skynet. While this version of John likely never meets Kate and her father early on, he manages to pick up his training and skills from his father before he dies and is still guided by his mother in the early years of the war. However, knowledge comes at a price. With the advanced knowledge he now has, John KNOWS Kyle must be the one to go back as this has created what is known as a Grandfather Paradox. This leads to John becoming laser focused on Kyle as he MUST be the one to go back, and that leads to Kyle becoming focused on Sarah due to John's stories, the picture, the message he wants delivered, etc. Second Loop (T1): May 13th-14th, 1984: Kyle and the T-800 arrive (Events of T1) Rather than a slow burn, Kyle and Sarah's relationship moves at a fast pace Kyle dies in the Cyberdyne factory fighting the T-800 1984-1997: Cyberdyne recovers the T-800 parts and accelerates their AI research Sarah and John go off the grid August 29th, 1997: Judgement Day is now seven years earlier 1997-2029: The Dark Years 2029: John discovers a major deviation at the end of this loop as a T-1000 prototype has now been sent back in addition to the T-800 As in the previous loops, John sends Kyle back but with one new message "There is no fate but what we make for ourselves" John reprograms a T-800 and send it back to 1995 Keep in mind that in T1 we witness Kyle say that the TDE was destroyed the moment he went back. It's just him and the T-800 in 1984. Naturally, John would have knowledge that the TDE was used only once by Skynet and depending on how much info Sarah learned from Kyle before he died, he would know that Judgement Day should be in 2004 rather than 1997. At this point, John realizes that he's now locked into a different kind of war with Skynet. Each additional loop is now changing the timeline in unforeseen ways. Skynet is now part of a Grandfather Paradox of its own making as the destroyed parts from the T-800 have become involved with its own creation. Keep in mind this is an advanced AI that became self-aware. Upon reaching that point, it could have very well figured out that Cyberdyne managed to accelerate their progress from the destroyed T-800 if any of their project files which it would now have access to made mention of reverse engineering a microchip of unknown origin. At this point, John would believe his best chance to stop this for good is to try to get the timeline back on track, so his original message for Reese to give to his mother ("The future is not set") is now amended to be "The future is not set. There is no fate but what we make." Need evidence? Ok. In T1, we hear Kyle say the original version of the line which does NOT include the "No Fate" portion of it. However, in T2 we hear John mention the quote as having that as well. Something wound up changing on a loop to make John amend the quote, and the most likely thing would have the combination of Judgement Day happening earlier, and an additional Terminator (in this case the T-1000) getting sent back. Now, once we reach this point, it actually starts to become rather difficult to figure out how many loops are involved from one film to the next as things have devolved to a point where John and Skynet are becoming reactionary to one another. John thwarts Skynet and then Skynet comes up with a new contingency plan. Eventually, you're going to wind up with timeline loops that might actually omit some films, or potentially even be timelines that are strongly similar to other timelines. Hell, the war on many loops is supposed to end in 2029, yet during the T3 loop we see that John is still fighting in 2032, and it even becomes a major plot point that he DIES before the war is over. At that point, one would ASSUME that T4 directly follows T3 as we see Kate and hear John mention that the timeline has now drastically changed from what his knowledge was intended to prepare him for, but somehow Skynet is aware of Kyle Reese and is now actively seeking to terminate him as there is no TDE equipment yet in 2018. No loops prior to T4 indicate that Skynet even knows who Kyle Reese is, otherwise they'd likely refocus their efforts towards trying to kill him before he goes back in time as the main contingency behind eliminating John.

(CONTINUED) I actually had to break this into two parts. Apparently, KZbin has a character limit on replies, but I'll be damned if I know what it is as it wouldn't tell me 😆 Anyway..... With all of that said, I think one can clearly argue for four distinct loops following the original timeline before things really start to get out of control: Original Timeline First Loop (Offscreen) Second Loop (T1, JD is now 1997) Third Loop (T1/T2, JD back to 2004, war still ongoing in 2032, John dies in 2032) Fourth Loop (makes no changes to T1/T2, leads to T3, John now back on the radar, war once again ends in 2029) After that? Who the hell knows how many times John/Skynet have done things. All we really need to know is that we eventually somehow get a loop that likely leads to T1-T4 happening in some manner, John first meeting Kyle in 2018 when Kyle is a main target, and the war ending in 2029. After more time travel shenanigans, we somehow get a loop that results in a T-1000 attempting to kill Sarah as a child, and knowing that Kyle is a major secondary target. I think at this point, Skynet may have finally realized killing John was a pointless exercise, especially as John/Skynet notes within T5's 2017 that they've all come from altered timelines and that John/Skynet killing them there wouldn't have a negative effect on John. I honestly think that's the key reason why Skynet shifted from trying to kill the Connors/Reese and instead opted to infect John with nanotech in T5. It's also the key reason why I think this film is actually the perfect ending point if you ignore loose plot threads that were intended for the sequels that never got made: Yes, John dies in this one, but the reality is that he was already dead from the moment Skynet caught up to him while John was sending Kyle back to 1984. It's a sad moment for sure, but we finally wind up with a timeline where both Sarah and Kyle are alive (despite not being from their original timelines), Judgement Day has not happened, and a Model 101 Terminator (originally a T-800, but upgraded with new abilities by the end) has managed to survive to the end of the film.

So basically you have 4 timelines: The Terminator -- Terminator 2 -- Terminator 3 (no longer canon) -- Terminator Salvation (maybe still canon) The Terminator -- Terminator 2 -- The Sara Connor Chronicles (a replacement for Terminator 3, but no longer canon) The Terminator -- Terminator 2 -- Genisys (a replacement for Terminator 3, but no longer canon) The Terminator -- Terminator 2 -- Terminator: Dark Fate (This is the current official canon series.) (I'd say Salvation is vaguely compatible with all of them as sort of a prequel/sequel.)

The method I use to sort some of this out in my mind,..... is that, Terminator: Salvation, Terminator: Genisys, and Terminator: Dark Fate happen on a (multiple) Paralel Timelines...... And this movie was another explanation of how the TV Show "Sarah Conner Chronicles" could happen (even though it was made after the TV Series)....... "He had 30 Years and now he chooses to load magazines?"..... the springs inslde magazines weaken when they are compressed for long periods of time..... Plus it gives the character a bonding moment..... LoL
