The Glovemeister - Ichiro's Mizuno Master Craftsman | WPW Origins

This offseason, @Mizuno USA invited @What Pros Wear to Japan to meet one of the world's best ballglove makers, "The Glovemeister," Ko Kishimoto, and to see him and his glove technicians at work. In Episode 1 of 3, we'll find out what it takes to be the Glovemeister FROM the Glovemeister.
The Glovemeister tells us how he came to be Ichiro's Glove Craftsman. Hint: It wasn't easy!

My infield glove is a mizuno and I love it; I've had it for like 6 years. My catchers mitt is a Wilson, and my outfield glove is a Rawlings. I love them all, but my mizuno is definitely my favorite, even though I play catcher 85% of the time.

This is awesome and I loved it, but clearer explanation would be appreciated. Why did he start making gloves for Ichiro? Were all of Ichiro's previous gloves produced by the former Mizuno glove meister? Did he then retire? Or did Ichiro wear a different company's glove prior to that season when he rejected those six? Was there any specific reason why they were rejected? Why did he make 50? While many ballplayers use the same gamer for multiple seasons, did Ichiro change gloves more regularly? I can guess at the answer for most of these questions, but it seems to me if you're going to go to all the trouble and expense to go to the one person (besides Ichiro himself) who could answer all these questions, why not find out more details to then share with your audience. You clearly are skilled in videography, so why not add more details and turn it into more of a 15 minute feature rather than a 5 minute clip? I'm looking forward to the rest of these Mizuno origins videos, regardless. This is a really good idea.

I had a really good Mizuno glove. Everything about it was perfect to snag balls from third base except that the pocket was TOO deep. I couldn't pull the ball out quick enough.

if you want the best mizuno, go to the japanese site for custom, the US one is the watered down version. Checkout swallow sports and the custom section, there you can get made in Japan mizuno pro orders that are pro issue quality. All their cuts and designs will be japanese style and a bit more expensive than here, but it's definitely worth it. If you really want to bring it up another notch you can get the Mizuno premium selection order or mizuno haga order, the kip they use on there is the best of the best.
