Best EV truck available right now IMO. I'm typically a Ford guy and I give them props for getting the Lightning out as early as they did but it's built on their ICE platform and not a "front the ground up designed EV", so not in the same league here. When I'm in the market again will be the end of 2027 so I'm excited to see what the market has to offer for truck EV's at that time. I know Ford is working on their code named T3 EV truck and it's apparently going to be the "Millennium Falcon of EVs" when it's released, according to Jim Farley anways. Based on the speed and improvement of battery, motor and charging tech, the EVs in 2027 should be enough to get me off the hybrid fence.

Terrific review-you nailed it! I have a 2024 GMC Sierra Denali EV Edition 1, which I’ve owned for about three months now, putting several thousand miles on it. I completely agree with all of your assessments. My one minor complaint is that I’d like to see more frequent firmware and infotainment updates. So far, GMC hasn’t released a single update. Having previously owned a Tesla and a Rivian, I was accustomed to receiving multiple updates within a three-month period. If you're looking for a true luxury truck, that drives like $120,000 Escalade this is it!

Key is a much better way to unlock than phone. Especially if it is being used as a work truck.. Just hand the keys to another employee. Plus, you do not have to worry about keys battery dying.

@@TroySavary You also get two cards (like plastic credit cards) with a Tesla to keep in your wallet or purse as a key backup. Just hand the card to another employee and you're all set. Tesla is ahead of the pack regardless of the haters.

@jim9685769 And how is a card superior to a key? Far more easily damaged. How many times do people need to replace their bank cards because they have become unreadable? Change for the sake of being different is not advancement.
@jim96857699 күн бұрын
@@TroySavary I suspect you’re a Luddite with 20 excuses against every advancement. An extremely tiny number of people in 2024 use a physical metal car key to open and unlocked their car doors since the key fob was invented in the 1980’s. At the very least, a key fob keeps your car from being locked shut in the winter during an ice storm when your key won’t work in the keyhole. But car keys and key fobs on your key ring are now antiquated tech. Tesla has been honing their system for a decade. The Tesla cards do not have a magnetic strip, the bank card part that “fails” over time. They are NFC chip cards. They don’t become “unreadable” with time and wouldn’t become damaged because they are rarely used and never swiped into any device. The card that you keep in your wallet is just a back-up card in case of emergency. You’re more likely to lose your car keys than you are to lose the Tesla card you keep in your wallet. The primary way everyone drives their Tesla is by using their smart phone, something that everyone has in 2024. You don’t have to take your phone out of your pocket or do anything to drive your Tesla. The app runs in the background. As you approach the car with your phone in your pocket the car silently unlocks. No flashing lights or horn honks. No drama. You get in, and as soon as your butt hits the seat the car turns on. No Start/Stop button nonsense. Start buttons are an unnecessary step. (But not as antiquated as a metal key to put in to twist the ignition on and off.) You put the Tesla in gear and drive away. When you stop and put the car in park, the electric motor turns off. As you get out of the car and walk away, the car shuts down and locks behind you. Reliably. It just works. Best in class. The only reason you would ever use the Tesla card key is if something happened with your phone, or in your example, when you want to hand the “key” to an employee for some reason. I suppose if you’re still rocking a Blackberry phone from 1999 you might use the Tesla card key daily to operate your car. But that kind of person would be unlikely to own a Tesla.
