Holy moly dude, getting to go in a Lancia 037 Stradale road car is an incredible privilege, most people will never even see one in their lifetime. The whine that sounds like a 2 stroke is the supercharger at least in part. The competition version that this car was produced to homologate is the last ever 2wd car to win the world rally championship. Significant 🫡

Well the 037 looks and for sure sounds very interesting, it looks like the street (stradale) version with a weird race-version body kit....idk also it doesnt sound like the street-version (we have on in our shop) which has carburators (only the race versions had fuel injection) it might be stradale that was messed with.... it just looks off to me

Might also be a replica (which was also like original based on the lacia beta) cuz the rollcage is 100% not original and based on what i could see from the engine bay it doesnt look right.....also its way too slow when i compare it to my experience driving in a stradale one

You need to go to the Canepa shop/showroom/museum in Santa Cruz (Scotts Valley), CA. It will blow your mind. I think they had four Porsche 959s when I went. The collection is insane 🤯!

Sir that is not a 2 stroke. Its a Tipo 232 AR4 engine in that bad boy. Used in a ton of other Fiat group cars. The sound is a combo of the turbo and supercharger.

Its not turbo charged and super charged… the s4 that came after was. They have quite a tinny sound, that with the supercharger makes them sound a bit like a 2 stroke. The tail pipes look like little expansion chambers too they might have a little effect on the noise.

So whats the deal this being two stroke? Real Lancia 037 is supercharged 4 cylinder TWIN CAM engine, that also means it is 4 stroke engine because of conventional camshafts.
