Ehhh outdoors he is, but sx it will definitely take him some time. I think when he moves up to the 450 people are going to be surprised at how much his level changes. He just has to ride the piss out of a 250 bc it doesn’t have enough power for him as fast as he wants to go but he won’t have that issue on the 450 and that’s when he will be able to slow down and learn those little things and smooth his riding style out in sx and will end up being very good, but that will take a season or two. But outdoors, that kid is gnarly and he already matches and beats the best guys laptimes on a 250 (even when the 450s have went first and 250s got a rougher track) so to think he can’t come in and be up there with them on a 450, come on now.

@@jamespatterson2002 yea he is. He’s great. I like him and thinks he’s good for sport. I just don’t know if he’s Jett’s biggest future rival. He’s not even the best 250 rider currently. Heck, he may not even be the best on his team with Davies. He’s kind of getting shown up by a rookie and a jet ski racer right now. The only rider more overrated than him is shimoda I believe. I think he’s great, I just don’t know if all the praise is good for the guy or if it’s setting expectations way too high too early or not.. I guess we’ll find out in the next few years. I was surprised to hear him say he looked up to someone like Dundey rather than rv or James. He seems more like a wreck or win type but hopefully he’ll be the next Mr consistent

We want to see the 2x SMX Champ face off against the 2x SMX Champ... How is that so hard to understand? Chase can put himself in that conversation by, idk, winning the SMX Title. I like Sexton but the problem is how he wins his Championships. I got nothing wrong with it because the best ability is availability but winning your 2 Titles from the best getting injured has the fans wanting to see him do it straight up. They NEVER said it was just Jett and Haiden... Simply wanting the only SMX Championships to face off. Chase needs to put himself into that conversation by winning. Dungey got top 3 for almost a straight decade and won every single championship after JS7 was done, never getting a top 3 after Dungey joined the Premier class... How is he not performing? He started off a little slow just bc of bad starts the first two, that happens. He got a good start round 3 and smoked everyone. Glendale was a triple crown and he raced solid and smart and didn’t override trying to get to the lead and crash and lose points. Davies rode good but it’s a triple crown and the track was tough to pass and you had to hit every section perfectly to even have a chance to pass and Davies did that and deegan was having trouble getting the one rhythm over the start every lap. Cant expect a guy to win every race. The level of competition is way too high but majority of the time, Haiden is going to smoke the entire field. It’s a long season and he’s 3 points out of the points lead, he is doing just fine. God forbid guys at the top not just go smoke everyone every race or else they are washed up and not performing 🙄

@@mhengler27 hasn’t done much this sx season so far. He’s run his mouth about how x,y and z has one coming. I like the aggressive riding and banging bars, I also like the clean riding. I was referring to in a full blown multiple season rivalry like Jase and RC are talking about I could see that happening. He’s rode teammates aggressively on a few occasions when it didn’t mean anything, you don’t think he’d clean Jett out if all the chips were on the table?

Could you imagine if guys like Bubba, Ricky, Reed, Villopoto had trained together but stayed just as competitive? Or Pastrana and Deegan, if they had trained together(even just from time to time) to learn from one another and improve on individual weaknesses but stayed just as hungry? "But it wouldn't be as competitive then", bullshit! We could see the best possible version of every rider if we cut the bullshit drama and theatrics and make it about the riders and their progression. I love seeing Haiden hungry and competitive, I also love seeing him acknowledge when he's wrong, and when the better racer won that night. You can't tell me that he has nothing to learn from Lawrence or that Lawrence has nothing to learn from him either. Personally, I'd love more than anything to hear news of riders training with other riders outside of their teams regularly, I think it would make a much more exciting evening of racing each and every week through the seasons.

All I know a 450 is a different animal than a 250. On a 250 you’re a superstar but on a 450 you mid pack. Time will tell

That’s most guys, Haiden isn’t most guys. Now I’m not saying his rookie season he will come out winning and getting podiums, but after he sees the level during actual races, he will be up there, outdoors atleast. I do think sx will take him a little longer to get up there battling for wins and podiums, depending who is still in the class atleast. Outdoors he is gonna be a dog.

Here is the issue that you all aren’t even seeing. Jett is fluid and his style of racing isn’t as taxing on the body. Deegan isn’t going to be able to ring that 450 out and ride it in the same manner. He’ll drop anchor at 20 min trying to ride that way. Jett uses a lot less energy than everyone else does and goes faster. You can’t beat that over a series.

Starting to remind me a lot of Villopoto, ringed the 250 but had a rocky start trying to ride the 450 the same way. Obviously for him it played out, it’ll be interesting to see how Deegan adapts. I also believe chase should be in this conversation more as well, just my opinion.

What you’re not realizing is he rides that 250 like he does because he wants to go faster than the bike will allow him. Once he gets on the 450 he will have more power than he needs and that’s when he will be able to focus on slowing down to go faster, especially in sx. His riding style doesn’t work as well for a lot of these sx tracks as well. He likes to just send it and over jump things and just keep his rpms up as high as they’ll go, that’s why he’s so damn fast outdoors but you can’t ride like that in sx but when that’s how you’ve always ridden and mostly you’ve raced outdoors your entire life, it’s hard to change that, especially when you have the ability to push a bike past its limits. Tomac use to ride a 250 the same way and look what he did when he moved to the 450. To think Haiden won’t have that same type of trajectory is just crazy. That’s not saying he will be as good as Tomac was in his prime, but he will be just fine on a 450.

For my life, I still do not understand the super hype on Jett and Hayden, and I wouldn't care who it was if they were being spoken of as these two have been for the last couple years. What I mean is - These two have been talked about like they are to be multi-time champions for years to come, no two ways about it, and they are basically at the beginning of their careers. People spoke of Deegan this way when he had barely begun winning, and I remember the "When is Jett going to eclipse McGrath's record" from quite a while ago. I just shake my head, I don't get it. And as we have seen how the beginning of this season has gone ...... And Jett may have a serious injury? Let them get 5 or 6 years down the road of mopping up the competition nearly every season, then begin to talk about these kinds of things.

Jett literally went undefeated his rookie 450 season and won a ton of titles in a row the past 3 or so years. Haiden has won 3 of the last 4 250 titles… I think they both have shown why they were talked about this way. As for the McGraths record thing, nobody else brought that up, JETT DID. He said his goal was to beat McGraths sx wins record and THEN people started bringing it up because HE did and when he brought it up, he had won a majority of the races in his rookie season with ease so it was quite evident why he would say it at that point and it was also just a long term goal of his. What’s wrong with him having that goal and telling everyone what that goal is? I swear some of yall are just dumb.

How is it a bad look? Everyone knows it’s good for the sport. It brings in views and gets people more interested and gets them talking and that’s what you need to grow the sport and the more people talking, that means more watching and more watching means more money and more money and people watching means more sponsors wanting to get in on it. The Deegans are marketing geniuses and know what they are doing and all of the other riders know it and don’t care. If the other guys were smart, they’d get in on it and get their piece of the pie when he offers it to them. Also, most every guy out there acts just like deega off the track. They are always talking sht to eachother and typically it’s all in good fun but that’s just how guys in this sport work. Unfortunately, not many are like deegan infront of the camera and won’t show their real colors and put in a fake nice guy humble kid persona.

Deegan has very little chance of being a 450 SMX champion while Jett, Chase, and Prado (outdoors) are still racing. They will be at their peak while he is trying to adapt to racing a 450. His style is also much more wild and will most likely result in frequent injuries for his first few years. He's gonna have to get in line and accept his thirds and fourths for many years before he breaks through.

Dumbest comment on this entire video. Deegans specialty is outdoors and smx where he can use his speed and send it mentality. SX takes a different level of skill and speed isn’t really one of them and with his size it’s more difficult for him to just smoke everyone like he does outdoors. Every top guys, hell even the privateers, know the fastest way around the track and the top guys all hit the same big lines and run within tenths of eachother lap after lap. It takes good starts, consistency, lack of little mistakes, and many other little variables to be at the top in sx and the way he rides, sx doesn’t fit his style but I think on a 450 when he has more power than he needs, unlike the 250, and actually focuses more on the little things and can control the throttle and traction in corners and whatnot better, he is going to make a huge jump in sx skill. But outdoors and smx, he is going to be a top 3 guy week after week.

We are so blessed right now with the caliper of racing we are witnessing now in both the 250 and 450. Respect is everything in racing. The speeds they are going now. I don't believe any of them will deliberately take big chances that by taking one out can be bad in a way that they didn't entended to be. But racing is racing and there will always be bar banging and break checking . There is 6 to 7 guys in both classes that with a good start a some luck can win. 1st race Web was unbeatable. 2nd race Kick start Kenny unbeatable and same with Eli.

Ehh Haiden will excel in sx when he gets on a 450 and he can actually “slow down to go faster” and learn a lot of the little things that help you win in sx. That 250 just doesn’t have enough power for him and so he has to al ways send it and you just can’t ride that way on most sx tracks but he won’t have to do that on the 450. Outdoors they will definitely have some great battles and be very close, but I kinda agree on the sx, from what we’ve seen but Haiden is also going to get better and he always figured out what he needs to do to win so I have all the faith in him to figure it out and be right there with him in sx as well.

Regardless of style, brand or influences, the big difference between Deegan and Lawrence is size. Biggers riders (JL) break easier-- especially knees. Rickys crash at Washougal in 2006 would have ruined Pastrana, Plessinger, etc. Carmichael just rolled with it, got up and kept going. I think that Deegan will have the longer career...

Because Haiden knows Jett is the guy and he wants to let him know he’s coming. Haiden is the one who brought up Jett at the beginning of the season, that’s why it’s being talked about. It’s also bc we can all clearly see they are the two best riders in their classes and Haiden is another generational type rider so it’s only common sense they’ll have some epic battles and a wicked rivalry when they meet. Nothing wrong with talking about the future. Not sure why yall get so butthurt about things like this. I like the idea of the rivalry. However, it can't be a true rivalry until they are racing against one another. Until this its two kids running their mouths at each other. So far, Deegan hasn't even won a supercross championship in the 250 class. When he pulls this off and moves up to the 450 class and shows that he can compete, then we'll chat. If Deegan moved up to 450s right now, he'd be lucky to finish top 5 and it would be a battle to maintain top 10. He just hasn't shown me that raw speed yet. Do I think he can get there? Absolutely! Who swaps victories for ten years. Ward vs Johnson was epic and was for about five years. Smith vs Hannah was about the same. Thorpe vs Malherbe was about two years and then Geboers vs Thorpe in 1988-90. There has never been a rivalry of two riders swapping victories for ten years.

I was there and line choice was key. Hayden bike in two places on fhe track when taking one of his two lines. You can see the bike loose forward drive for a split second. It was that way for just about everyone. Eli line xhoice in the sand section was second to none. Also the the 2nd coner after that area. When he vot away from the inside line. Went on the ohtside for only about a 1/3 of that corner and pointed the bike tords the middle and could keep his momentum staying in the middle in our letting it continue to the outer side. That was so sick to see him figure that out.

Haiden isnt even leading his regional sx series which has basically no one in it, hes not on jets level. Haiden is getting beat by juju and his rookie teammate davies, 2 guys no one ever heard of b4 last year. Lets see haiden win one sx championship first. He got beat by tom vialle last year too who had never raced sx. Jett was smoking ppl in the 250 class and winning every championship.

Why are you just talking about jett and haidon, you don't know what will happen with injury's, and some riders in the 250 might be amazing on the 450 which no one will see coming. Damon Bradshaw was scary fast in the 90s but his CV has 89 east coast championship only 😢

Hayden has been riding like shit when it comes down to it for mains. Good qualifier and heat race rider. But rides past his limits and can’t even keep up with his younger rookie teammate. He had to come from the back in the first two races, was the fastest guy in every race this season so far and smoked everyone when he got a start. So wtf are you even talking about?
