One similarity that both Michael and Tony had was their turning points within their criminal history. With Michael, his turning point into a life of crime(which he tried to avoid) was when he killed Virgil Solozzo who was a drug lord that tried to kill Vito(Michael's father) and Captain McCluskey who was a corrupt cop who was on Solozzo's payroll and for also punching Michael in his face which injured his jaw. With Tony, it was killing his boss, Frank Lopez out of retaliation for an attempted hit on him for not staying in line when it came to the drug world. And along with Frank, Tony also killed detective Mel Bernstein who was a corrupt cop on Frank's payroll and who also tried to put an end to Tony's future. And after these killings, Tony became the top drug lord in Miami with severe consequences to him and his empire later on.

Michael is going to just say ok all calm & cool then walk out the room. And next thing you know it's going to be one of those Godfather 3 helicopter scenes from out of nowhere. Michael is pretty much cut similar to Sosa which is Tony's kryptonite.
@redwheelbarrow51193 жыл бұрын
I think Tony could win only for the way he attacks extremely unpredictably and with such force, he could completely blindside Michael.
@Hitman615473 жыл бұрын
Two of my all time favorite characters, so different, yet played by the same man! I think Mike gets this pretty easily unless you factor in Sosa. Instead of sending an army he’d probably just send Al Neri to take care of him. If Tony has Sosa’s power and influence backing him it would probably be a very ugly war though…..

Tony Montana - as a street guy with street intelligence and wit, he knew how much his skills were worth but he always knew he was never comfortable with low level or mid-level management , he didn’t really like working under someone he wanted to have his on his ambition got him the top spot but it was his paranoia and drug fueled mind that poisoned him so in result; lost his wife, killed his best friend, forbid his sister from loving someone, and he made his supplier his enemy. He would never survive in a war with himself as Michael Corleone being a vision of himself he knew if he went to jail two would happen he gets killed or someone in his organization flips sides for his enemies or the Feds but he forgot the Law of Power #19. Know Who You're Dealing With - Don't Offend the Wrong Person. Choose your opponents wisely. There are some people that once defeated, will spend the rest of their lives seeking revenge. Michael Corleone - more wise more strategic and more calculated than Tony however he would lose in the brutality of the battle against Tony because his actions are more vicious and more like his brother Sonny “Shoot first” however he can outwit Tony on wealth influence and power Tony does have the same status as Michael but he lacks the respect and the business negotiations because he will get what he wants if the person fucks him over he takes it from them.

Good video, but the Empire category should go to Michael. In a War, it isn't about who built their empire the fastest or the resources used in the initial founding, but rather the actual strength and reach of the empire in question. And Michael out strips Tony by literal thousands of miles. To say that the Corleones is a bigger faction is a under statement.

there’s a reason montana died young in a battle he started, and that michael got to very old age and outlived his enemies i think these were the points of their stories. montana is like a very powerful burst that doesn’t last long, goes out in a blaze while michael is steady and concrete michael was raised for it and did it for his family, while montana just did it because he wanted to have fun and excess. the difference in motive makes the winner clear

In my opinion Michael would win as he thinks ahead of the game more so then Tony. Chances are in a straight fight Tony would win, however Michael could exploit Tony Cocaine addiction. By sending one of his best men or a prostitute in Tony organization and plant powdered ricin/Cyanide in Tony cocaine Stash and wait for him to snort the bag. Or him calling Sosa and telling him they should team up an kill Tony in exchange allows his organization to somewhat operate in Miami albeit under mafia observation of course. I agree with Tony being able to build an empire faster then Michael and that is a impressive feat. However in reminds of my debates in Collage about Rome and alexanders empire. Alexander built his empire in a few years of his young life mainly through quick and decisive conquest. While Rome built its empire in a more slower way to integrate the different people and cultures into it. while Alexander empire broke apart the second he dies. Rome and its successors built and empire greater then Alexander that lasted hundred of years all the way to the Byzantine fall. Tony is Alexander going in hard and fast , While Michael is Rome building and expanding.

you also can't forget that Michael was in the military, a Marine in world war 2 and won a cross, so it's safe to assume that his military training played a role in him successfully killing the corrupted cop, I also found him to be quite brutal as well compared to his father who liked to keep the peace, Michael was extremely cold and calculating always taking no chances and killing people who he saw as threats, I can see Tony yelling in his face and throwing insults as Michael just turns to look at one of his men signaling the end of Montana's life.

Michael Corleone seria o vencedor.

Michael easily. 'Ol Scarface, as much as we love him, is just way to emotional to think clearly. I think of him as similar to Sonny. Smart but let's his emotions get the best of him and makes rash decisions without thinking of the consequences.

The only people who even question this, are the ones that never paid attention to some of the essential Godfather movies, or Scarface. Tony Montana: Impulsive, impatient, obsessive, possibly incestuous, paranoid, close and bloody minded with extremely short sighted planning and has little to no power outside his own gang, being nothing but a puppet/distributor for a Bolivian Cartel with a drug addiction. Michael Coreleone: Calm, Caluclated, patient, strategic, has an empire, and a vast network of loyal support from other families (at given times.) and survived against almost insane odds. TOny would be dead before he stepped foot out of his mansion in a drug fueled haze. Stats. Wealth: While Michael was pushing to legitimize the family's income, it was his income alone to manage, for all the money tony had, how much of it was his, and how much of it was supposed to be going to his boss in Bolivia? Given his shortsighted arrogant impulsivness, I would easily assume he'd be trying to skim or steal some of it for himself, as seen when he stupidly tries to get a cheaper money launderer and ends up getting arrested. Winner: Michael Corleone. Brutality: Tony is the soldier on the ground, but is by an large not that great at recognizing an ambush, and didn't earn military distinction, if it came to a fistfight, Tony would probably win, but in times of a gun battle, I don't know who would win. Winner: Inconclusive. Soldiers: Tony did remarkably well, better than Michael to start, he rose to power, showing he was a competent soldier, and willing to make deals he saw as profitable (even if it was fueled by his distaste for Columbians, hence making a deal with the Bolivian Cartel), was wise enough to figure out his boss sent out a hit on him and killed him, was NOT smart enough to spare a useful ally in the corrupt cop leading the police officers on his newly established payroll, and ended up losing the only alliance he had with the Bolivian cartel, who was likely keeping the Cali and Medellin Super Cartels off his back)and went out in a 'blaze of glory' after all his men were gunned down trying to protect him while he was grieving over having killed his best friend for being in a relationship with his sister. (again, possibly incestuous) Michael had his crew from day one, and had some hard times establishing his dominance over the other Dons, but had a group he could rely on from the beginning, while Tony had his best friend and one or two other guys before he became the Bolivian Cartel's distribution head in Miami (which again is more than likely the Bolivians didn't send anyone but that assassin, chances are most those gunmen were from the Cali or Medellin Cartels given their interest in Miami). Winner: Tony Montana. Empire (I'm going to lump in Power and influence here as it's heavily related to this topic): Tony never had an empire, he was running and selling Coke for a cartel, the only reason he had any money or influence was because of that, Could he have made an empire of his own? Possibly, it'd take him years, and is honestly doubtful given how unstable he was *without an intense addiction to cocaine* Michael inherited and strengthened the Capone empire, fending off challenges from within and without with varying degrees of success, and didn't have to rely on an outside cartel or family for power, Winner Michael Corleone hands down. It really wasn't a tough decision to make, maybe I'm biased, but in hindsight, Tony Montana was basically in power through luck and being used by an outside influence to run drugs and made a myriad of mistakes once getting his power.
