What sucks is that canonically, suicide is considered a great sin that condemns you to Hell. So even if you are wounded on the battlefield, if you're on the losing side, and you don't die, you can't kill yourself to avoid this fate, because your soul will end up damned anyway.

@zhuyu9268 there are some really silly parts but over all I love wh40k... but this looks like they took what I love about 40k and condensed it. The echlisiarchy and the church as well as the sisters of battle and the adeptus mechanicus the death korps of kreig and the orks and all the mechs and titans are all so so rad in 40k. It has probably the most in-depth lore of any fictional universe that I have seen where death matters, unlike in American comic books. Not to mention you can tell there have been alot of people from the military and people familiar with history contributing to the lore due to battles and reasonings making sense as well as accurately echoing history. Like there are some cringe parts but its also a gigantic universe where you could get along just fine without aknowledging what you dislike in the setting. What makes it cringe to you?

One of the things that I got out of this game is that you have to choose damnation of your own freewill. If you are under magic-powered ultra-torture that would be a violation of freewill I would think. IIRC near the beginning of the hell mouth some proselytizers from Christendom went into the Levant and now they are perpetually roasting in some brazen bulls. I would imaging centuries of roasting would probably make them want to switch sides if that was a possibility. While I do like myself some grim-dark I think it is a bit too soon for them to get inconsistent unless I misunderstand the fluff.

The only physical that could handled that would be Christ or in game setting the Meta-Christs though with assistance. Another of the things I liked about this setting was the foot soldiers of the fallen. They were taken from the inhabitants of the Levant. They were pagan no doubt but they had to willfully seek irrevocable damnation. Taking away willful submission to damnation detracts from the setting of this game or in reality freewill.

@@scannerbarkly Still think that ultra-torture is a shit plot device. Making an inverse unit should take more work. It should not just be find Nth amount of faith, hurt it to X, and make new unit. Especially given all other units had to willfully give themselves to damnation. If some unit can fold space/time for reasons then it should be pretty rare in points and fluff. BTW I do dig the left hand hunters.

I am sensing something inspired by the Cathar doctrine in this setting. Explaining: the "God" that the "forces of light" serve is not THE real God but the Demiurge Yaldabaoth, the cosmic tyrant that imprisons our reality and the one "God" found in the Old Testament. (AGAIN: All of that based in the Cathar doctrine - which is heretic by the way) Think about it. For instance, an Angel already appeared in the lore during a battle between Hell and "Heaven" armies and its mere presence ANNIHILATED both! Why would an Angel annihilate the armies allegedly faithful to God? Think about it...
