If you ever watch that 70 show, on the last episode when Topher Grace returns, he apologizes to Donna for leaving and saying he thought he was doing the right thing. I'm almost sure it's Topher talking and not Eric Forman because leaving the show screwed up the last season and his career in Hollywood never took off like he hoped.

Dorothy used to hit Rose on the head with a newspaper when she thought she was being stupid on many occasions. So when Rose did it, boy did she earn that one. Dorothy has a cheek to complain.

i know its 2 yrs late but notice how bea arthur looked at the audience when they applauded the bonk on her head? it was like she herself was saying i deserve that😄
@Moyaiville_Productions8 ай бұрын
@martinadrianarcenas867 She kinda did that except she said it out loud in that episode when the girls did that school play to get kids reading. Rose was upset about the plays ending and as they were at the house after the plays rehearsal, Rose made an argument about how Dorothy has the nerve to call herself a teacher when people like her are responsible for the bad that exists on Earth.. Dorothy turned right to Blanche and basically said "I guess I had that coming" which is another translation for "I deserved that." So technically, this is the 2nd and much more serious time Dorothy felt she deserved something Rose did to her that she probably wouldn't normally like

I realize there are more people saying that The Golden Palace was nothing without Dorothy. I think she is quite the comic in the group and is my favorite character. but I was also very young when I first got hooked. I never knew about The Golden Palace just cause I watched The Golden Girls and Murder She Wrote all the time with ER and Charmed. Those were always my go to shows I stumbled upon thks series just recentley I had no idea
@nikollechandler31186 жыл бұрын
Marchant2, I never understood the pre mature cancel myself. I mean, yeah, no Dorothy but all else remained the same. Rose still telling St. Olaf stories, Sophia's insults & her Sciliy stories. Blanche still loves men as much as she ever did & it was interesting to see them even host the daughters of the South when in the actual series she was rejected by them. It was stll funny, it was still hitting subjects that we can learn from even to this day. This season alone covered things like the treatment of African Americans, dog breeding, parents divorcing & the feelings in well, and adult in this case as their parents move n to other things and people. The list goes on and on. Point is, to those who would be turned off by no Dorothy I would say they are right. It isn't the same without her there & for me that's OK. It isn't meant to be. We know in the end of the Golden Girls she married Lucas and went to Georgia. Personally, I enoyeed seeing the next chapter of the other 3 Golden Girls lives. It WAS far too early to see the Golden Palace go. So sad. It deserved way more love than it got.

@@nikollechandler3118 Ive never gotten enough of Dorothy's sarcastic nature it's what makes scenes this not only touching but very humorous at the same time its hard to believe them selling a scene without her quick wit
@nikollechandler31186 жыл бұрын
Kristin Amanda Thomas, I can sympathize. Of course, the fact they chose Rose to be more assertive an in control was a wise one I think. Who else would make sense when Rose took 7 seasons of their insults and things, one could say she had enough. Lol It used to be hard not to see Dorothy with them for me too, but really in the end, I think it turned out pretty well. But no question, the series was one of a kind. You cannot find good TV like this anymore.

Dorothy used to hit Rose all the time in Golden Girls. I had no clue there ever was a Golden Palace until now.
@drewzuhosky68263 жыл бұрын
It was a post-script series originally intended for NBC. NBC actually placed a 13-episode order for this show but the creators were hopeful that they would be able to get a full season out of NBC, which didn't want to order a full season of _The Golden Palace_ due to the sliding ratings of _The Golden Girls,_ which had placed 30th in the ratings the year before after placing in the top 10 of the ratings for the first six years of its run. CBS outbid NBC and ordered the full season that the creators were hoping they'd get from the other network. A second season of _The Golden Palace_ was planned for fall 1993, but CBS wound up cancelling the series the night before upfronts took place.
@deshaunx7766 жыл бұрын
This show wasn't that bad. The premise was dumb and the chemistry didn't work without Dorothy. It's like fan fiction. Somebody said, "Hey, I wonder what would happen if Dorothy moved away and the other 3 make a stupid impulsive decision to buy a hotel." It would have made more sense if they had turned Uncle Angelo's apartment building into a hotel or something, rather than selling the house. Blanche was so desperate to keep the house that she almost evicted one of them when the inspector came, yet she was willing to throw it away for some stupid hotel? Ridiculous.
@Planetcharr6 жыл бұрын
As the season progressed it got funnier but that chemistry wasn't there; so true and they did kind of re-hash some of the story lines ...but that's the writers fault and a changing in the guard ... Should have kept the house and intertwined the Weston's (Empty Nest) and the Nurses. They did have a lot of heavy comedic special guests but it wasn't enough to save it. I believe the premise though of the Hotel was basically the girls got snookered into buying the hotel; they had to continue with it in order for each to make enough money to gain back their very bad investment. A great episode is when Blanche meets her match ... in the form of Ricardo Montalban. Oh well, it was sad when this finally went off the air ... Nurses ended and Empty Nest went all weird.

that was because there was no genuine emotional depth to dorothy newspapering rose on the head all those times - it was because of simple frustration - she wasn't angry, just incredibly annoyed with rose, it was an expression of both rage and a rebellion, an abolishment of the previous structure of their group where dorothy was undisputed leader. it shocked and hurt dorothy on the inside, that's what counts
