Story time! Once upon a time I worked with an Italian gentleman who had an office next to mine, and we were both fans of the golden girls. Occasionally he would have it on in his office and I'd hang out for a minute and catch a little bit when I had to go in there. Well, a few days after we watched a particular scene I had to go ask him something on a file. So I listened outside the door to make sure he wasn't on the phone with a client and then barged into his office with "NOW LISTEN UP YOU WHITHERED OLD SICILIAN MONKEY!" which simultaneously caused him to bust a gut laughing for a solid 3 minutes and horrify everyone else within earshot. It was a win-win.

I just finished binge-watching the entire first Season of Golden Girls and this show was light years ahead of its time! The writing, the acting, the punchlines, the cast, everything about it is timeless and brilliant. Betty was absolutely adorable in her portrayal of airhead Rose. I'm glad Rue had the foresight to avoid being typecast and quickly switched roles with Betty last minute before production began, because I couldn't imagine her pulling off a convincing Rose (and Betty pulling of a good Blanche).

One of my favorite set of comebacks is when Dorothy couldn't hold her tongue at an Elvis fan club meeting that Blanche had organized. Blanche: That about concludes the first meeting of the Hunka Hunka Burning Love Fan Club! But before we adjourn, our secretary has a real special surprise. A genuine Elvis artifact! Rose: It’s a partially eaten pork chop. (Passes it around.) He had beautiful teeth, didn’t he? Dorothy: This has to be a fake. Elvis would never have left this much meat on a pork chop! Blanche: Dorothy, you’re out of the club. Meeting is adjourned ... Well, I hope you’re not too upset about this, Dorothy. Dorothy: I’ve just been thrown out of an unauthorized Elvis fan club. I’ll try to pick up the pieces and go on with my life. I mean, there must be a support group for people like me.

There were plenty of great moments of sarcasm with Dorothy throughout the series. I would say overall she got picked on the most of the four girls, but when she responded, she tended to mic drop that shit. Since you asked, though, I remember one comeback I had for a friend way back in the 8th or 9th grade that I can totally hear being re-delivered in Dorothy's deadpan voice. This dude was having some kind of playful argument with his mother when she told him something like how rambunctious he was as a smaller child, and he replies to her, "Oh yeah, that was totally my fault. When you would always just be like 'here, Jay, have another sugar cube'." So since I was there at the time, I just found myself interrupting and saying, "Is that what she'd say to you as she was brushing out your mane?" He then gave me a look much like Sophia did in response when Dorothy said in the video "You're a furry little gnome and we feed you too much".

May I recommend videos about Stan? It's so hilarious Dorothy's comebacks to him especially the perfectly timed door slams to his face. She does a better job at door slamming him then when she hits Rose with the swinging kitchen door. Stan is a character too. She really let's the comebacks loose when its Stan compared to the girls.

I loved the first episode how they found each other through Blanche's grocery store ad, they even had disputes then first the bedroom, then the type of food each got to the point they wanted to move out but as soon as Rose brought out the cheesecake they became friends. I would have loved to have been at one of their late night cheesecake talks. It looks so fun.
