So simple. I agree golfers POV is excellent. For sure my right hand has been more palm than fingers. Also my Vardon grip has been wrong. Thanks Brian.

Excellent video. Simple and clear. Golfers POV from behind camera really helps visualise the hand positions. Overhead and and POV videos are much better that the usual camera angle that most instructors on KZbin use.

Your recommendation of the little finger position and grip placement in fingers of right hand in the Vardon grip feels so so awkward at first...... But I've persevered and now it's really paying off. My whole swing has reacted and now I'm hitting the ball straight. Thank you. I am now a true believer in the grip being the most important thing and it will change your swing. Your body will work out what to do naturally.

Thank you for your comment Alan. Congratulations on your perseverance. Most people give up if it isn't an instant fix. I remember at the age of 15 when I was shown how to grip the club correctly (I had a 3 handicap at the time) I felt like every shot I was going to hit would be a shank. I never did but that is how it felt. I wanted to go back to the old grip so badly...... But I had supreme faith in my coach so I just kept at it and then I hit one shot. That was all it took. One single shot and then I was away. If we give the brain a chance to do it's work it will sort out most problems for us. Well done and keep me posted on your progress I would love to here about it. Brian

Great work Brian. I use the interlocking grip which I've been using since 6th grade. Its so ingrained in my mind that i really don't think i could use any other technique. The hammer drill is really a good aid that i would have never thought of myself. Thanks Golf Doctor!!!!!!

Thanks Dean.There is no need to change your grip whatsoever. I used the hammer years ago with a mate who was helping be with a building project. We got around to golf and the only thing around was the hammer. It worked a treat and I have used it ever since. Brian

Interesting grip philosophy. Although it is a bit different than I’ve always heard from others, it seems more “natural” with far less manipulation necessary to achieve a reasonably comfortable hold on the club. I like the use of your “training aid” to assist your video. 👍🏼😆 I will give this a go next time I practice. Thanks as always for you insight.

Thanks for the feed back Joe. I appreciate it. I haven't watched what other people say on KZbin about the golf swing for 6 years. I just make videos the way I coach. I often have people tell me I am very different to what other coaches say. I just try and keep things as simple as I possibly can. Just like I do in a golf lesson. I am glad you enjoyed it. Brian

First of all, thank you for the detailed images of where you place the grip across your hand! Very helpful to understand your words! Quick question: would you advocate a stronger grip with the ball position at the back foot and a "perfectly" neutral grip with the ball position at the front foot? Essentially, does ball position affect your grip? Cheers from the states, mate!
@fitzygolfpro
@fitzygolfpro 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for your feed back Teph. I am glad you enjoyed it and I appreciate your comments. With regard to your question..... I would never advocate for a stronger grip with the ball back in your stance. I am a firm believer in Neutral grip and correct ball position. Two wrongs don't make a right. In fact hit makes a good shot much harder than it should be. It may not be the answer you were looking for but it is the way I would approach it. Brian

Hi Brian, very good video I struggle with my grip so then my consistency especially irons... maybe a mirror video for lefties on setup ball position etc sometime would be a great help to us off ones. Cheers Mate🖕

You lefties get a bum deal Ian. I have thought about remaking some of my videos from the left handed perspective. If you watch the video on a tablet or phone just face it towards a mirror and it is now left handed. I hope that helps Ian. Brian

Another great vlog beautifully explained and easy to understand. It's been a funny day today ending up with an unscheduled visit to my eye specialist. Bad reaction to stopping the steroids. Immediately put back on them and probably will be for life. Your vlog has cheered me up and taken my mind off the events of today. Thanks Brian the Doctor heals again !

Sir: is that grip for the low hand?
@fitzygolfpro
@fitzygolfpro 4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the question Patricia. I am not sure I understand it though. If you are referring to holding the hammer yes it is the low hand or the right hand for a right handed golfer. Is that what you meant? Brian

You had me until you asked Mel to grab the hammer. He grabbed it with his right hand. Is he a right or left handed golfer? I understood that if one is right handed, the left hand should do the work and the right is passive. If Mel is right handed and he grabbed the hammer with the right hand, is it really the right hand doing the work? I tend to overthink so, yeah. :D
@fitzygolfpro
@fitzygolfpro 4 жыл бұрын
Hello Linda. Thanks for your comment. Mal is a right hand dominant person that plays golf right handed. The hammer analogy is for the bottom hand on the club or what some people refer to as the trail hand. It doesn't work for the other hand as the left or lead hand is placed on the club differently. If you are a right handed golfer and are right dominant your right hand does all of the work not the left. The left is fairly passive. I hope that clears it up for you and thanks for watching. Brian
