I've had my truck for almost 2 years. Only maintenance i've had was keeping the windshield washer fluid up and tire rotations. I did get new EV specific tires because ALL the tires that come with the truck last about 20k miles. EV specific tires have a stronger compound and only cost a tad extra and will get you a full 40-60k miles! Rivian seriously killed it with this truck. The price is steep but it only costs me about $12 to drive 300 miles when I charge at home. Compared to $80 with my Tundra...

Great review, but I feel some critical aspects were missing. While the R1T Gen 2 brings improvements like adaptive driving beams, updated cameras, a fantastic interior, and off-road capability, it’s disappointing that persistent issues from Gen 1-like battery thermal management and slower charging (~140 kW at 30%) shown in other reviews - haven’t been addressed. It would’ve been nice to see more on charging, on-road driving, and driver-assistance technology, which weren’t covered much. Given this is an updated model, I expected these improvements to be a focus, especially with Jen’s background at Tesla. Hopefully, future videos will touch on this more.

Without getting nitpicky about specifics, my biggest issues with the R1T are the price (of course) and the fact that it isn't really a truck. I'm not saying it's a bad vehicle for what many people want, but for those who need an actual work truck, the R1T falls far short of that. Even if they insist on a crew cab, they need to have a better location for the spare (it would be buried under cargo most of the time), and they need to have at least a 6' bed that can fold down to a reasonable platform for 8' items when the tailgate is down.
@Jodywshelton16 күн бұрын
EVs will almost never include a spare period... Definitely won't put it under the vehicle because of the range hit. Not that it's perfect by any means, but it is the best location for the majority of users. Keep in mind this is getting used rarely if ever. (had mine 2 years and never had to use it thankfully:)) The bed length is smaller, but the goose neck hinge does help a ton. Brings the length of the bed to almost 7ft. Again, not amazing but the gooseneck hinge is awesome! I've had 8ft long lumbar and it only extends just of 1ft past the bed. Not bad at all IMO

@newscoulomb370516 күн бұрын
@@Jodywshelton Not exactly. The Lightning and Silverado's efficiency is only slightly worse than the R1T's, and the efficiency difference is directly proportional to the size difference (frontal area) of the trucks. If you're referring to the RST as the "regular" Silverado, the reason it doesn't mount the spare in that location is because the 24" rims and tires won't physically fit in the space. My 20 year old F-150 has the spare in the same location, and the only reason my 25 year old Ford Ranger EVs don't is because they used the standard spare mounting point to mount the motor controller.

@aaronw860616 күн бұрын
Well, you're in luck, because she didn't spend a good portion of time just crapping on the cybertruck. She "negatively" mentioned the cybertruck four times. Two subjective statements about its looks, one at the beginning and one at the end, which would be considered "crapping" on the cybertruck. She spent a total of eleven seconds doing that. She also spent 10 seconds making two objectively true statements; the cybertruck tonneau cover/tailgate buttons have had issues and it doesn't come with a spare tire. She wasn't "crapping" on the cybertruck for the buttons, she simply said that Rivian was using the same design, hope they figured it out. I can see the spare tire comment as a bit of a "crapping", but it doesn't make it any less true. Compare/contrast similar vehicles within the same product category is a basic tenet of automotive journalism. Anyway, she spent a total of 21 seconds of an 806 second video "crapping" on the cybertruck. That's just 2.6% of the runtime. If you drop the button talk, because there really was no "crapping" there, then it's only 15 seconds of an 806 second video, which is just 1.9% of the runtime. How is 15-21 seconds (1.9-2.6% of video length) considered "a good portion of time just crapping on the cybertruck"?

Have driven a Rivian. It is an excellent design. Very well thought out. The price is ridiculous. It is a mid sized truck that cost more than a 3/4 ton GMC Denali. It's ridicilous. Until the price coems way down and I know that even at 90K Rivian is still loosing lots of money it will never be anyhting but a small niche vehicle. Comprobable mid size are all mid 50-high 60's in ICE. One can argue the Rivian is nicer interor and it is in my opinion but literally it is almost double the price.
@Jodywshelton16 күн бұрын
The best Rivian to buy is the standard range. can get it under 80K. 270miles of range on a battery pack you can charge full daily, unlike the other versions.. not that you can't, just not recommended. if you factor in the base truck which is phenomenal still, you only pay $10-18 to go 270miles.. compare that to a higher performance mid since truck (still WAY slower) you're saving $200/month or more in gas depending on your daily drive/location. Possibly a lot more. Again, still a pricey truck but this is a luxury high performance vehicle.
