Danny, the reason I prefer season two to season one is because it focuses on the relationship between Aziraphale and Crowley. Their relationship is, for me, head and shoulders above any plot point or other relationship in the show. It is the heart of the story, the reason I care about the show as much as I do. Moreso than the book, tv Good Omens is a love story, and I can't wait to see their happy ending in the season three movie/finale. I will be watching for your reaction to it. Thanks for your videos!

The book was written at a very closeted time in history: the AIDS epidemic. I read it in 1991, and i have to say, the way it read to queer people was so, so relevant. The spy behavior, hiding in plain sight, little gestures and dialogue, the way they trust each other all says ‘an old married couple’. It’s so subtle, but people living that way, in secret, picked up on it. That’s why it’s such an iconic piece of queer literature… it speaks the language!

The major reason us Ineffables (GO fans) loved s2 is because we're HARDCORE AziraCrow shippers. We'd been waiting since the end of s1 (and for those who read the book, 30 years) for these two to get together for real, and it was like... well, you saw it. It broke our hearts. Some of us are still paying the therapy bills. On top of this, due to the allegations against NG, production was paused on s3 for a while, and it looked like it would be cancelled, leaving us on THAT cliffhanger. Talk about heartbroken. Fortunately, while there won't be a full s3, there will be a 90 minute finale that, hopefully, has a happy ending. Production has resumed, and filming begins on Jan 6, 2025. The finale might be released as soon as next fall, but could be as late as the holidays or early 2026. The Ineffables have breathed a collective sigh of relief, and while it's disappointing that it won't be a full 6-episode season, it's SOMETHING, and was almost nothing. So hopefully you understand why we were all so eager for you to get to this point, and why we were saying 'be careful what you wish for.' Thank you SO SO SO MUCH for doing this reaction, it's been so much fun and has helped ease some of the pain of our collective angst. Welcome to the Ineffable Brainrot™, Danny. I hope Danny sees this: Yes, S1 had a more overarching goal with the whole apocalypse going on, but S2 had more going on relationship wise. We actually see how much history Azi and Crowley had together; the Relationship between Nina and Maggie was to mirror A&Cs Relationship, with Nina (Azi) and her toxic relationship (Heaven) and Maggie (Crowley) not having the courage to pursue her crush. Them having a talk with Crowley really puts pressure on the fact that they, 2 humans, solved it better than two immortal beings. On the other hand we have Beelzebub and Gabriel, 2 immortal beings on either side of the war, who JUST CHOSE LOVE and got away with it. But A&C love Earth too much to just leave it behind, bc they spend their time together there, and they love the humans. Also Azi is still stuck in his toxic relationship with heaven, his faith got challenged yes but he wasn’t ready yet to resent God and choose Crowley. Like Nina said, even if he would, it’s not wise to jump into a relationship straight after a toxic one. Azi will have to learn that he can’t actually change heaven, just like you can’t change a toxic partner. What Crowley hurt the most is the fact that Azi wanted him to change and be an angel again, instead of accepting how he is, and ignoring why Crowley resents heaven so much in the first place. Hopefully Crowley can forgive what Azi did to him after he got out of his shell after centuries. Thanks for coming to my TED TALK

1:33 From what I remember of Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett mentioning the sequel that never ended up getting published because they didn’t have time to actually sit down and write the actual book,but had the plot and story all worked out,this take is pretty spot on. Season 2 was meant to be bridge to get from Point A(season 1) to Point B(season 3). While books don’t necessarily need that much transition,it would probably feel very jarring to go into a brand new plot in a TV series.

The highlight of this season for me is the character development! We see Crowley being a good person and then getting punished for it because he's a demon which provides more background on why he's always trying to deny having certain traits that will get him in big trouble. All he does is help people, tell folks how to properly feed ducks, not know how to use a gun, be sassy, pretend to do something bad when really he's taking credit for something a human did or just changed kids into lizards and animals into other animals- He gets that people are complex and his character is already way further along then Az right now. Seriously over 6,000 years and still he's somehow moving too fast for you. Really hope we get to see Aziraphale learn acceptance and reflect on himself and heaven. Shout out to Crowley, the voice of reason and subject of thousands of wonderfully crafted AO3 works. He's such a sweet heart. Goodnight

They actually say in season 1 the reason they avoid "death" is because it's "a lot of paperwork" they they don't want to deal with, but demons and angels only have two real ways to die. Either with holy water/hell fire which will destroy their entire body and soul. Or the book of life which isn't technically death, it makes it so you never actually existed in the universe, so you would cease to exist. Any other "death" are just inconveniences for them

He’s been told and has been telling people for 6000+ years that heaven is good, is the Right side. At times (the resurrectionist, the Job minisode, the flood, when he contacts heaven the last time in s1) that belief is what is keeping him together, because if he accepted that heaven was Not Good then they werent doing bad things for good reasons, they were just doing bad things.

In my opinion, the season two plot was getting to know the Aziraphale and Crowley relationship a lot better. Especially getting to know different aspects of the Aziraphale character and why he did some of the things. Their characters developed a lot since season 1 and this season showed us their friendship free of heaven and hell. Also, they showed us Crowley's side , beliefs and his true feelings toward Aziraphale a lot better in this season. The season 2 story gave us some basics and information that will help us to understand the story in the future.

Yes this. It's called getting discorperated. It only destroys the physical body and you basically respawn in heaven or hell then need to do all the paperwork to get a new body. They mention it occasionally in both seasons. Only holy water or hellfire or book of life will kill them forever. Eric the disposable demon seems to be a bit of a red shirt so they have lots of body's ready and waiting for him, that's the joke.

The point of season 2 is mostly to show the relationship developments between Crowley and Aziraphale. Also at the end Aziraphale still loves Crowley, but he wants to make the world/heaven a better place for them to live in.

Season 2 was as advertised “quiet, gentle and romantic.” think that’s why we like it so much. It ran with all our shippy dreams. Then it crashed in a fiery wreck of angst. Personally my enjoyment of the franchise suffered as the months passed and we were all waiting through the writers’ strike for S3 confirmation…just to have hopes dashed with all that’s happened since the allegations came out. Glad to have the final 90-minute episode to wrap things up. But as a fandom we were done wrong. N*** was given the green light on another season and he used it as a six-episode proposal for a third season instead of telling the story he and Terry planned. And now he’s (rightly) out of the picture but we were THIS close to getting nothing and having the bookmark forever stuck on “We could have been us” / “I forgive you.” Which is wildly irresponsible of the surviving co-creator.
