Random detail: Earlier in season 2 when they visit Mindy's, "catch the flying magic panda" was on the list of suggestions on how to escape. At the time, Eleanor dismissed it as one of Jason's nonsensical ideas but, as the neighborhood is deconstructing in this episode, you can actually glimpse a flying magic panda in the background.

I feel like the lesson in this episode is that our minds are usually the biggest obstacle to being our 'best selves'. Of course, it's easy to be distracted by these kind of arbitrary benchmarks and forget the real challenge is striving to be a little bit better every single day after day after day.

The actress that plays Tahani (Jameela Jamil) didn't know how to dance. Ted Danson is literally teaching her how to ballroom dance in that scene. She also had never acted before, she was a TV and radio music presenter and had no acting training. The character was initially going to be a white heiress called Tessa, until Mike Schur "discovered" Jameela and renamed and rewrote the part for her. Jameela says she also learned how to act from Ted Danson.

i think chidi loves qualities *about* eleanor, like that she's willing to be patient with him. she respects that he's messed up in a different direction than she is and there really are no foregone conclusions just because they hooked up literally in a previous life. she just wants to be around him which is a difficult thing for him to accept. i do think that people in general are really quick to jump to romantic love when exploring a connection with a new person. "relationship" even has a romantic connotation although the word itself means any human intimacy. if you don't build trust and a common language for consent, it's really hard to navigate crazy situations. chidi hasn't had a moment where being eleanor's lover makes sense to him. he knows that he values her friendship in the midst of a perilous existence but there hasn't been a whole lot of joy in their relationship up to this point. he's not even allowed to remember the majority of what *was* joyful. it's a tough spot.
@TheJadedJames3 жыл бұрын
Personally, I feel like if I saw that I was in a relationship in an alternate timeline with someone I currently only see as a friend it would either freak me out a bitter or just not change anything because ... that event technically didn’t happen to me. I’m sure if a time traveler went back and caused me to take a different class schedule in college it might have dramatically changed my entire love life, but I don’t live in that world

Something I just noticed for the first time in this reaction is when Chidi tells Eleanor that he wishes they had met in a "normal" way and the last one he mentions is "you came knocking on my office door". Wow.
