Love that Eleanor wrote a note about Chidi and gave it to Janet, and Chidi wrote a note about Eleanor.

One of the easily-missed little bits -- in the part where they're playing charades, Chidi says that he suspects Eleanor was cheating by reading the cards off the reflection of his glasses. He reads the note not just for himself -- but because he knows Eleanor will read it.

Chidi's growth has been the hardest somehow - but this episode actually hit a point home. While Eleanor always ended up improving while with Chidi - Chidi was too caught up in his own ideas of right or wrong, good or bad - he was always searching for the absolute in the ever changing chaos that his afterlife turned out to be - Eleanor IS the answer, but it took Chidi viewing everything he had been through - with and without Eleanor- to realise what Eleanor realised long ago. I like this episode because it highlights why Chidi is such a unique character - his observation of life and its ambiguity reflected in his actions - or rather the lack of those actions because he could never decide what to do. With Chidi, they did require an episode where he could observe his own actions because he is idealistic to the extent of not recognizing what he should learn from experience even when the answer's right in front of him. It was also evident when he erroneously believed that he ended up in the bad place because he drank almond milk - and completely missed the actual problem.

It could be both. Isn't there balance? Both in laws of motion and in the metaphysical/spiritual aspect? You can find a soulmate off of destiny but it's still your will to build a relationship. Interesting concept. But "there is no answer" is the answer.
@dani010203stor2 жыл бұрын
i took it as there is no "answer" becaue its not a concrete answer. everyone's answer will be different. so there will be MANY answers just as many people are. And then HIS answer was Eleonor. (of course i know its more complex than that, its not just eleonor but the experiences he goes through, everything he learns, etc. But it was Eleonor who could finally let him make it there)

In Jacksonville the ditch isn't actually a traditional ditch. The ditch is a reference to the the intracoastal which is basically a water channel that separates the barrier island from the mainland. (Best description I have)

S3 Finale: Eleanor: "Look, Janet... Can you just give me The Answer?" At that point, Janet has Chidi's note. She doesn't give it to Eleanor. "There is no answer. But Eleanor is the Answer."

SURAJ!!! Your people are here. I just finished my first watch of “Lost” last week (which I started because you never shut up about it) and I want to thank you for loving it so much because it’s now tied with “Dark” as my favorite show. I’m watching it again now and it’s crazy knowing everything ahead of time. But I find it funny that you pointed out the 4815 on this show (thanks to whatever viewer noticed that) yet totally missed the last name Hume in this episode! “Lost” is everywhere. I’m sad that this show is coming to an end soon. What are you guys watching next? You three have to continue on with something else!

If you have read all of the Harry Potter books if you have read all of the game of thrones books and definitely if you have read all of the Lord of the Ring books then you have read more than 3,000 pages. The Lord of the Ring books the original versions apparently had over 9,000 pages. Harry Potter and game of thrones have each over 4,000 pages yes technically it is a little more engaging than philosophy however if you're someone who enjoys thinking then it would be just as enjoyable as reading those fantasy books.

Not to say I have it in my life, but I think balance is something everyone should go for. I say this because most people go to the extreme in their own personal beliefs and may not even be aware of it. So I feel like if people started adopting the philosophy that life has no answer they might take the concept to far and run with it. idk thats what I think

Thank you for remembering that Chidi speaks French because even whenever they went back to Earth and were actually on Earth Chidi spoke English and that pissed me off so much that's the only thing about this show at least have cheating speak some broken English where he was trying to learn English or something like that or have him not speak it so perfectly and say it was his second language or have him speak English pretty well but you know just say he learned it but doesn't use it often considering the fact that they said in episode 1 that he speaks French like other than that the show is almost perfect

You guys are misusing the word, learn. I'm going to go old school on you guys with this comment. In the movie, “Boyz in the Hood”, the main character, Trae, learned a valuable lesson from his father at the beginning of the movie about what it meant to be a man. Toward the end of the movie, when Trae's best friend is murdered, we see him in the back of a car with a Glock handgun about to do a drive by with several other boys. Suddenly, he tells the driver to stop the car and pull over. I can’t do this he tells them. I have my whole life ahead of me and taking revenge won’t bring back my friend, so I need to handle this like a man. Trae, didn’t continue on the drive by and say I’m going to do it anyway despite what I've learned, but that's essentially what Chidi did. Before he wiped his memory, he had a conversation with Michael and found out that his parents stayed together because they worked on their relationship and they went to counselling and not because of a presentation he gave them. If Chidi had really learned, like you said, he would have exclaimed, you know what, I’m not going to wipe my memory, because I love Eleanor and I have no guarantees that I’ll ever see her again. I need to do what my parents did and work on my relationship with this woman, but Chidi did the opposite. The Bible said that “truth is like a kiss on the lips” for those who value it, but Chidi never valued the truth. He only paid lip service to it and used it as excuse to be a coward. He spent the last year, forking his ex-girlfriend and wanting her to be his soul mate and not doing one single thing that he said he would do when he wiped his memory in season three. If you want to see examples of what it meant to learn, you can look at every character in this show except Chidi. Fans liked Chidi because he helped Eleanor in season one at the expense of jeopardizing the safety of everybody else in the neighbourhood. For me, Chidi was that guy who constantly beat his wife and felt guilty about it so his wife gave him more chances, because he was nice in the beginning. That’s what fans did when they forgave him for lying to Eleanor about his feelings in season one, season two and season three, and they are about to forgive this cowardly little bench again, but I don’t forgive him because he was the sole reason why we didn't get to see more of the Eleanor and Chidi that appeared in this episode. I like love too, Nikki, but no self-respecting woman could ever fall in love with a guy like Chidi, unless she knew that he would device a system to get her into the Good Place, and even then, she'd have to think about it. She'd have to think about it, because always says one thing and does another.
@MrPassion4truth2 жыл бұрын
1) Suraj, when you said Chidi would be an annoying friend, I wanted to hug you, but the truth is, Chidi wouldn't be an annoying friend because he would be the friend of a friend of a friend. That's how little you know about him. Hell, we only found out in this episode that he was the offspring of human beings. 2) How is Chidi better when he was with Eleanor but he did everything possible to avoid being with her? That's what you should have asked. 3) I've always said that Chidi was just an encyclopaedia of philosophy quotes in human form. Who was the real robot, Chidi or Janet? Who was the real dumb ass, Chidi or Jason? When you have to ask the dumb ass for advice, what does that say about your intelligence or lack thereof? 4) Quinten Tarantino said that characters don't know the future, but characters in the Good Place acted like they did. This was a show without consequences, so Chidi could write that romantic note, spend a year forking his ex girlfriend, and know that Eleanor would be there waiting. Yes, the note was romantic, but it was in no way a reflection of the Chidi that appeared in this show.
