One of the most likely reasons for Pepsiman's disappearance is due to the terms and conditions during his creation, in which the Japanese business man who created him has to supervise *every* single thing created in regards to the character, from the collectible bottle caps to the 1999 video game. And he's quite picky as well, during some shootings for the commercials they had to record about 200 shots of a pepsi can until they got one he was satisfied with.

Fun fact; Nostalgia actually has a role when it comes to how things taste. You're gonna prefer things you've enjoyed early in your childhood over things you try recently. It's why cocacola is a dominant brand; it's what most people are familiar with, and changing that is pretty difficult. There's actually legitimate studies done on this kinda stuff.

I mean, I get why Pepsi Man was mostly just a Japanese thing, but part of me wishes his commercials were globally broadcasted. I love the whole idea of a superhero mascot being imperfect and getting occasionally slapsticked into oblivion, while not being a strawman for a hater of the product. Especially since, while he’s not perfect, he still gets the job done, so neither extreme is reached. And this is coming from someone who lives in a suburb of the city Coca-Cola was first made. And someone who also has that ‘Coca-Cola Espumante’ soundbyte as the scene interruption sound in a majority of her videos. And someone who regularly drinks Barq’s, which is literally just Coca-Cola Root Beer.

Actually, chutes and ladders can be a way to teach morality. Think about it. The ladders only go up a little bit, but the snakes can drop you fifty spaces. Doing good doesn’t get you as far as doing bad drops you. How many times have you landed on the dreaded space 98, going all the way down to the fifties? So, in this game, the message is to avoid evil than do good. Yeah.
@TheMrUnx4924 күн бұрын
funny story, you wanna know who invented snakes & ladders? the game of life? two games famous for not having ANY gameplay the Puritans. The american ones. They made them as moral instruction. The chutes used to be sins, the ladders, virtues. & it was by the roll of the die because God.

I'd highly recommend watching the Denvul documentary on this guy as it goes pretty in-depth in the creation process of the character and his commercials. After watching it, I realized there are various pieces of lost media related to Pepsi Man, including lost commercials for a Pepsi Man knock-off character, most of the other songs and commercials from the band behind the Pepsi Man theme, James & Gang, and it seems to be a mystery who the winners of the various Pepsi Man contests were (like I would love to get my hands on that Pepsi machine or the Corvette, along with other Pepsi Man memorabilia and have the world's largest Pepsi Man collection).

I would definitely go see a Pepsiman Movie. Making an origin story for this character would be weird, but I could see it being so interesting because Pepsiman doesn’t talk. Pepsiman would need to do much body language to communicate with the other characters and the audience. But if done right, it would be a huge success.

With his new Pepsi-related powers, Pepsi Convoy made it his goal to soothe the thirst of sentients across the galaxy.
