I remeber in the episode where they went into an active volcano, Ms. Fizzle had a worried look on her face for a brief moment. Which probably wasn't a good sign considering how they WERE INSIDE THE LAVA. I last saw that episode in elementary school I don't know why I remeber a detail that didn't even last 10 seconds.

As an avid magic school bus fan, incorrect. While it's true, she never got upset or angry, she didn't smile all the time. Also, let's not forget she was supposed to be a role model. A rock for kids to lean on when they themselves were sad. I myself could never stay sad when I watched the show. The iconic theme song always got me smiling.

The thing I always appreciated about the original show is that, being educational, they could have just made the kids empty nobody's and still had them learn stuff. but for whatever reason, they all get personalities (even if small ones) and spotlight episodes where someone gets the most attention. also they all have complicated last names and way too long pages on magic school bus wiki, if that's still around.

I like the ways in which the books and the original show based on them found two different ways to make Arnold and Phoebe a relatable stand-in for the audience; Arnold is the fearful kid who always wishes he had stayed home today, and Phoebe is a realist who notices all of the extraordinary far-fetched things that never happened at her old school.

Frizzle is obviously a demigod or even god that discovered that they love to teach children about various things. She is so powerful that she’s never scared. She has everything perfectly under control. She lets things play out for fun, such as Arnold nearly dying twice. He was never in danger, nor was anyone else. She likes to mess with the kids a bit, especially Arnold.

I think the reboot would've been better received if they had done an all new class (and maybe even a non-frizzle teacher) give a new generation new kids. Heck, even the bus could be different. The MSB has a mechanic and a manual, so it's not a stretch to assume there'd be another one around (esp after so many years). There's gonna be initial outrage regardless since it's a beloved old show, but if you replace the characters while keeping the concept there's less stuff for old fans to latch onto to be angry about

I remember when the Magic Schoolbus reboot premiered. It was within a week of the new school year starting, so we were all talking about it at school and even convinced our biology teacher to show it in class so we could complain about how awful it was together. It just so happened that my conservative grandma homeroom teacher was gone for the first week of school and the substitute was cooler and younger, so we started referring to her as, “the new Mrs. Janice” (we used first names, possibly because the biology teacher and P.E. teacher were her sons, and thus, they all had the same last name) in reference to, “the new Ms. Frizzle” we kept discussing. The next week, the usual homeroom teacher returned, and on her first day back, one of my classmates said IN HER EARSHOT, “I want the new Mrs. Janice back!” Seeing as she completely missed the context, I can only imagine what she was thinking in that moment!

I remember a friend of mine had some of the Magic School Bus books. One of them was when they go back in time to the dinosaurs. I can't remember which dinosaurs were involved exactly, but there was page in which a therapod hunted and killed a herbivore. It had a lot of blood pouring out and pooling around the carcass. I feel like the therapod was likely either a T-Rex or Allosaurus, but I can't remember the herbivore dinosaur. Ms Frizzle took her class back in time to watch a blood bath up close. I mean it is natural, but it was so weird seeing something so graphic in a kid's book.

I was functionally aware of the Netflix series from having seen it show up a singular time, but I had no idea they actually explained the magic of the Magic School Bus. This does however mean that literally every episode is now 1000% more dangerous and reality warping now. Do you realize how much energy is at the center of the sun? Alright, true story. I started reading the picture book version of the Magic School Bus when I was five. My aunt Bobbi had some of those in her home. I didn't even know Janet was a character until watching the butterfly episode for the first time when I was either seven or eight. Because second grade is when me and my class was introduced to the original Magic School Bus show.

I still find the Netflix reboot weird in the aspect of: a year passed since the end of the previous show and at the begining of the new show and school year the one character that shouldn't be replaced, is the only one who got replaced. I remember trying to research the origin of the magic school bus itself, which lead me to an article or something that said the original Miss Frizzle was dead (which I guess was wrong, but was kinda funny to see tbh lmao). There was like, NOTHING on the Bus’ origins. Like the closest there was to it was that the engine of the bus’ interior was like Mary Poppins’ bag, in which the inside was WAY bigger than the engine itself. Also that the manufacturer of the engine IS named, but it’s never elaborated or explored on who exactly they are, and how the fuck they brought a school bus to life
