Nothing has come close to passing yet, the final bill has not been written but whatever it is will inevitably fall short. Just as Obamacare has. The pharmaceutical companies will not allow it. Obamacare was written for and by them, it's a shell game. They still have a unbreakable hold on Congress. Trumps bungling approach may be our only hope of breaking that hold. Health care cost will only come down in a world where the competition is fair. It has been rigged for the last 30 years and will remain so. Nothing either party can do will fix the problem.

I'd prefer an out of pocket system, which would reduce administration and lower the actual cost of care instead of pushing money around.

Key word "insurance." It's not something you use whenever you want, it's something you have in case you need it. Kinda like you hafta have auto insurance to drive a car, but you don't *really* need it until you're in an accident. Also, keeping everyone healthier ultimately saves us money in the long run, as it means fewer people in the ER for conditions that could've been treated with affordable healthcare, who end up not being able to pay for said emergency treatment, which ends up costing us taxpayers more to cover for it.

Yeah, insurance. Something that is voluntarily purchased to cover insurable risk. Auto insurance being mandatory is also wrong provided that the person can afford to pay for liabilities that they could incur. If I recall correctly, one state in the US operates under such a measure. I agree that a healthier population is the best prevention. That's why I oppose socialized medicine. You can't force people to be healthy, but socialized medicine forces those costs onto the general population. The easy solution is to not force people to cover someone else's emergency treatment. Easy.

I just had a surgery today and am in the hospital, to hopefully being able to use my right arm again.. its shocking to see that in the us, people like me wont have that chance .. those people are just selfishness overload in its greatest glory.. money is just a number and cant pay for a life, but still, having more money than they need is more important to them than saving priceless lifes.. why would anyone with the slightest amount of intelligence support such movement?

My only hope at this point is that once they figure out the ACA is exactly what we need, with a few adjustments, it is branded "Obamacare" forever, no matter how many changes. I think it is poetic justice. They coined the phrase and it ends up being the best choice. Sweet!

Then Mr. Adams, there are several alternative countries you would probably adjust to better. Here in the united states we separate "morals" from law. However, if you must, I will "flip the coin" for the sake of bipartisanship, democracy, you know the "Constitutional stuff". Many people (I think around half the country at least) find that when their children have left home and they no longer have dependents, and no longer have need of taxpayer funded services like schools, but see an increase in income taxes because of the loss of dependents; instead of crying over that increase that is going to get you nowhere, you think about what you would like to see happen with your tax dollars. I think most people are ok with chipping in on coverage for those unable to pay. I can't think of anything more important that healthcare for everybody. I have attended churches that were passing the offering plate, and if I looked around, or even straight up to the pulpit, and based my offering on their morals, the best I could probably cough up would be my "Sunday school nickle" my papaw used to give me before church. You can't possibly believe that all the people who receive government assistance for health care are not "worthy" of your contribution; however again, if you must, I may have a problem with some of the services you receive compliments of the U.S. government. Not all these "freebies" come in the form of a food stamp or Medicaid card. You gonna let me have a close look at you before you get yours? Make a decision on your "morals".....cause so far I'm seeing a lack thereof. Maybe you need to be vetted a little closer. Maybe pee in a cup, release your medical records? smdh

I have no obligation to move in order to avoid this shakedown. The notion that something is correct because many people support it is nothing more than an appeal to popularity. I'm not okay with a socialized system of anything. Any funds taken from me against my will are nothing more than theft, and I don't care if you're feeding the homeless or paying someone's doctor bill with the proceeds....it's wrong to steal the funds in the first place. Taxation is theft.

I'm sure you are living off the grid, taking and consuming absolutely nothing that didn't come from your own property and your own skills. If that is so, then maybe you have a point. However, since your water source is coming from surrounding properties you do not own, you may owe the government a little something for making sure that water is protected from contamination before it comes to your property, oh yeah, those little envelopes that hang from trees to control the insect population so that your crops, your only food source, don't die from an infestation, that's gonna cost ya a buck or two. But since you live off the grid, you don't really use a lot of taxpayer dollars, but we all should at least pay our own way wouldn't you agree? SMDH
