Wowsers. It must have been satisfying to finally finish this job after all the challenges, including that dodgy skip driver! Top work

Yeah, it was a slight relief, but onto the next I guess. You can only learn from experience and get the job done quicker and in an easier fashion next time.

Yeah to be honest I am, But it was a fantastic opportunity to showcase what I can do. I'm really glad I took your job on. I do still wanna go back to hit the tops of brickwork with a wire brush just to get it looking that extra bit better! I hope you enjoyed the project!

Looks good although i would have brought the agregate on the paths up to the level of the edging even if it meant slopeing it back slightly to meet the existing paving. From experience its never really worth holding back on landscaping jobs, i have known some absolute nightmare Aprils for rain. Best option is just to book the work in and cope with the weather as best as possible In terms of the type one you want to compact it immediately upon laying it if there is rain forecast or hold off until a dry weather window. The nature of it is it will absorb water like a sponge until it is compacted and almost liquify when you then try and compact as you discovered. If you do get caught out or hit a soft spot of clay then break the surface of the soft type one up and rake a bag of hydrated or hydraulic lime in to it, if you have a digger on site then track this in. The lime will dry even the most saturated areas and you can then wack or roll the next day.

Fantastic bit of information. As always, so thank you very much. I did actually use some hydrated line in the project. And it did help and speed it up. I just did all this off camera. I found adding it to the wet material. Really helped dry it out. Regarding the time of year, I guess with the weather we've been having the past couple of years. You're probably right. Just get the job booked on and work with the weather! I still just wanna go back and give the top of the brick work a hit with the wire brush as you can still see some dull spots and I'm not quite happy with it as it stands! Thanks for the comment!
