Jeep's Grand Cherokee isn't just the best selling Jeep, it's also the selling mid-size SUV in America, and it's easy to see why. The Grand Cherokee lineup has something for everyone it seems. There's a base RWD model with a V6 if you're looking for a Ford Edge alternative, or you can get a 2-speed transfer case and 4WD for more rugged terrain. There's a 3-row model if you want to go places a Highlander or Explorer could never dream of, a Trailhawk model if you want to go *some of the places a Wrangler can go in style, and models dripping with wood and leather if you're looking for an American alternative to a Range Rover.

I sold my 2020 Land Rover Defender 110 to buy a 2022 GC Summit Reserve and spent about $30K less. While I loved the look of the LR and it does have a bit more cashe' being a Land Rover, I found the interaction points with the vehicle - the overly flat drivers seat, the steering wheel audio controls not always working, the swing out rear door, etc. made the daily living with the vehicle a challenge. Jeep really stepped up their game with the interior and ride comfort while still maintaining the towing and off-road capability - I simply love the GC.

@@kunalaneja2901 After living with the GC for the past 1.5 years and 12,000 miles, I would still very much recommend - I really can't find any fault with it. (and I'm very particular with my vehicles) I've had absolutely no issues. Besides an oil/filter change, no service/maintenance. I have the Summit with the V8 so I can't speak to how the V6 compares, but I'm very pleased.

@@kunalaneja2901 That is so true - reviews here are good for the "first impressions" and to give you insights beyond what is put out by the manufacturers. The forums, on the other hand, tend to be the vocal ones who have had problems and issues. I'd argue that any brand/manufacturer will have a small percentage of defects and bugs. Jeep hasn't had the best of reputations but I can only speak to my experience. I hope you are happy with your decision and have many trouble-free miles.

Just such a perfect blend of size, capability, features, luxury, and tech. People often scoff at the price of loaded GCs, but I am quick to remind those that may be unaware: Jeep has been pushing the luxury envelope since the 1993 Limited V8 costing nearly $40K back then. And they've been costly ever since. Yes, there is indeed a healthy assortment of buyers that could buy a mid-trim X5 or GLE for similar money, but choose the Summit Reserve Jeep. I truly believe that its price point, it is the only vehicle that combines luxury, space, cargo capacity, tech, various powertrains(a few luxury brands don't even offer a hybrid option), first-class interior trappings, towing, and yes, real and true offroading with real-deal 4WD hardware. That is the secret sauce of loaded GCs and always has been. It's just that this generation really has closed the gap on where mainstream ends and luxury begins.

@@rachelgreen1368 It depends on your preferences. I like the Grand Cherokee and don’t care about the reliability of any car past 100K miles since I don’t tend to keep them that long and I buy new. If you are buying a used vehicle or are good about keeping your cars for a long time (which is much smarter financially too) then a Grand Cherokee shouldn’t be on your list at all. How can the Cherokee have more combined legroom than the Grand Cherokee (7: 12) Anyway the Jeep always been tight on interior space it hurts that the Outback has more interior room and the Santa Fe Palisade is light years away or at least 7 inches which is really huge where everyone else is within a fraction of an inch of each other

@@hellkitty1014 unfortunately they didn't not with this new generation nor With Wk2. The previous generation trailhawk was advertised with underbody protection. Which is not entirely true. They use plastic under the engine. So if you are a serious off roader , you have to buy some more after market skid plates. And I'm saying this as a GC trailhawk owner.

I am a big fan of V8 engines; my current car has one and I love it. But with gas at $8.3/gal I can't wait to see if the new I6 engine that will likely have similar power ratings as the Hemi while having much better fuel economy because a Grand Cherokee V8 is just not in my future.
@TKPorsche
@TKPorsche 2 жыл бұрын
If this forthcoming inline 6 (presumably to be turbo/electrified) is as powerful as the V8, why would it be any more fuel efficient in real world use? Internal engine thermal efficiencies will be similar. It might get better fuel economy on the artificial government test cycle, but as soon as you tap into that turbo boost, say goodbye to improved fuel economy. Leave our V8’s alone as long as market demand supports them.
@benhaze1010
@benhaze1010 2 жыл бұрын
@@TKPorsche Overall engine efficiencies have actually improved considerably; it is not just about thermal efficiencies. Lighter (considerably?) engine, dual injection (?) and less friction will make a difference. Obviously if you tap 100% in the same HP but that is not what I am talking about. Also I owned a V8 Grand Cherokee, did you?? Didn't know that 2 of my vehicles were yours... A bit pretentious of you.

@@benhaze1010 Longevity. V8 should outlast the I6 tho with both being well maintained. The I6 has far more internal pressure with DI on top of the turbo. Don’t forget carbon build up the V8 is far less prone to. More moving parts and new tech from a notoriously questionable reliability history at Chrysler/Stellantis. There’s a market for the V8.
@benhaze1010
@benhaze1010 Жыл бұрын
@@BarcelonaBlitzer I hear you. I currently havbe a V8 with both port and dirtect injection so it should be good to go for a long time and is much more efficient than the Hemi. The Chrysler Pentastar V6 engine turned out to be one of the best V6 engines on the market, extremely reliable so sometimes Chrysler can be surprising. I6 are inherently better balanced engines and very interesting design wise.
@BarcelonaBlitzer
@BarcelonaBlitzer Жыл бұрын
@@benhaze1010 Yeah I’m hoping they have another success in the new Hurricane as they did with the Pentastar 3.6. I’m just concerned that from what I’ve seen it is solely DI on top of the turbo so it has to be engineered well for all that pressure. I was excited that we would return to the respected longevity of the straight 6 4.0 days, but we’ll just have to see.

They're tecnically based in Amsterdam, a little weird since none of the companies were based there. I suppose that made in uncontroversial once Peugeot was merged into it. The French would have been upset if it were based in Italy, and the Italians if in France. Most Americans didn't care much where the HQ staff was. They still have factories here that make most of their vehicles, the Renegade excepted. It's based on a Fiat/Alfa platform and made in Italy.
