A lovely piece of high quality film that captures a time when things were very different than today. Peter...for a young toddler at the time, you must have had the patience of a saint whilst you had to wait around for your Dad to set up his film camera (& tripod, no doubt) for all of these beautiful shots where you were either the subject or at least a valuable asset amongst your father's screenplay. Thank you so much for looking after & now posting for posterity, this important piece of our heritage.

Thanks for your comment! Dad rarely used a tripod and most of the time, I was unaware that he was filming. Think he got pretty quick at prepping the camera, swapping film and lens, etc. He used a bolex H16.

One of the Standard 4s appears to have a double chimney. The only one I'm aware of with the small BR2A tender was 75029, which was bought by the artist David Shepherd straight out of BR service - it never saw a scrapyard. There were other double-chimney Standard 4s but they generally worked on the Southern Region and were paired with the larger capacity BR1B tenders.

Superb. We used to go to the dales a lot in the sixties, and I always watched the trains go by on the Grassington line.

Fabulous memories you were so lucky to be brought up so close to the railway it must have been magical for you .

Absolutely delightful. Many thanks for sharing. Normally other subjects in the foreground detract from the main theme but on this production, with the young chap (presume yourself) rolling around in the buttercups etc, the reverse is most certainly the case.

l wonder what was in those chained down containers on the flat wagon on most of these trains ! A liquid or a powder ? Milk ?

I had not seen that before. The sound dubbing is decidedly less bad than in some other cases. ¿Why were not 8Fs used on those trains? There were plenty still around in 1967/68.
